BRAND NEW DEALER IN THE SOUTH WEST

Post by deej »

Today in bodmin there is a new George White outlet store opening up,has been kept very very quiet and is all ready causing a few issues within the trade. oxford products have had to pull out of trago mills to go in there, GT's and damerells are fuming as the main stuff for sale is old frank thomas clothing and helmets that are going to be a few years old, definetly not current models today is the first day and apprently its free pasties and coffee to everyone

the new superstore/outlet store is located next to/within the gul factory on cooksland ind est so is literally 1 minute from the a30 bodmin southbound junction

what else did you expect from a factory outlet store

its no different to what they sell in swindon, 2005/06 leathers n helmets that didnt sell at full price so ends up in a discounted outlet site

col- when i said quiet i meant that the trade didnt pick up on it until mcn went to press on wednesday, normally those sort of rumours start months before they open not 48hrs.

lots of bikes there, will be interesting to see how long it stays there though.

From what I've seen of the Swindon store, there are some good deal's to be had if you are not a dedicated purchaser of the current years stock

if you don't mind compromising a little on colour or style, I would hardly call Spyke, A-Star, Sidi, Arai, Shoei, etc., cheap tat

Fair enough, but they didn't have many of those brands at Bodmin. I haven't been to the Swindon store so couldn't compare it to that.

Wasn't impressed by the whole organisation of it. Generally, at an opening like this you have a current or ex racer, dyno, arai truck etc and its promoted well. This had none of that and seemed very rushed. I don't think it'll be there very long

from what ive heard there are a lot of bargains to be heard as long as you dont have to have 'this years model' like a true fashion tart. yesterday was not the official open day,a proper one will be coming shortly.

the store might not be there very long anyway

theres a rumour going round that its just a summer shop and it also has the small issue of being on a trading estate that is solely storage/warehouse use only so no retail outlets allowed, expect a complaint or two to the council very soon :P :P :P

i went there yesterday. it was ok but not as many bikes there as i would have expected. wasn't worth travelling all the way from bovey but the ride back home via wadebridge, camelford, bude, hatherleigh, okhampton was great!

I've been to the one in Swindon, piled high with some relatively cheap stuff, a fair amount of tat :? but plenty of bargains to be had as well if, as watters says, you're not bothered about having this year's model - plenty of Arai lids such as the old-style Walker reps and so on, good deals on Schuberth lids too. Probably worth a look if you're after a bargain 8) Just mind the tat, for not everything that is cheap is necessarily good....
