Has anyone done a trackday there, seriously considering doing it before the end of summer. Its pretty close so should be able to ride there and back in a day easily.

Yup, is worth a go, organisers really friendly and track has some rather quick corners.
They run differently than other days, 3 to 5 groups all mixed but limited numbers out at one time and of course the dreaded combe noise test.
Safety camera partnership are doing a day with hopp training on the 16th September for £99, same amount of track time but focused on corners and braking allegedly, otherwise it's £125 for the day.

sorry to put a downer on it steve but your bike will probs be waaaaaaaaaay too loud. They are pretty strict there. I hear they have a list of what bikes fail with STANDARD cans.

Thats only newer exhausts with 'MotoGP' style cans like the K6 GSXR's, 09 Fireblades etc. Any bike with a 'conventional' exhaust will pass, so an old R6 with a standard exhaust will be fine. Simons bike would fail due to the buzz from the GHD's.

I was hoping to put the car on track there during Japfest but it failed the godsquadders-PC-Tree hugging noise level test........and I know bike bike would fail too, its a shame cus its a nice track. Seems silly tho having a race course and the top rated cars and bikes etc can't race there kinda defeats the purpose of a race track the noise the atmosphere the racing, too many rules health and safety BSers are ruining racing + this country.

As has been said, very nice track, but they are anal about noise to the point where it just isn't funny. I took my 250 2 stroke race bike there some years back, amusingly it passed the test, but the bloke was a complete b a s t a rd about it, made me do the test twice and then gave me a lecture about how 2 strokes make more noise when on track and that he'd be watching me and would black flag me the moment I went over the limit. P i ssed me right off and created a bad feeling right from the off, haven't been back since.
In their defence I understand that they have a serious problem with w ankers who buy a house in the village in the knowledge that it's next to a racetrack, and then complain about the noise from said track, so they have to be strict - but they don't have to be so miserable about it

Bladerunners point seems to sum what most people report about castle coombe,it actually sounds very similiar to how I felt the guys at pembrey were with the guys back in june. Wasn't impressed with their attitude either...

I would be tempted to do this if it wasnt for the stupidly high price tag with it! 125 for a track day

In fairness Deej, the noise testing folks were the track/council guys rather than PBRTD
I thought their (PBRTD) attitude to noise seemed OK

Not that I'd know as it wasn't me who took the bike to them
