Does anyone know of any discount schemes available for the above crossing please? 1 bike & 2 adults in June.

try looking on aferryto.co.uk - they often post up deals ...... otherwise try to pal up with someone who has a house in France and belongs to Brittany's "property owners" scheme

brittany ferriers have no real competition on that route so charge what the hell they want

i looked at a car n trailer a few years ago and they wanted 1100 quid the robbing buggers

I cannot ,even get a discount using our freight account, I tried to book the car out through freight to blag a discount and the just passed me over too the passenger lot

Another option is LD Lines from Portsmouth to Le Havre(?) and then nip across to St Nazzaire & jump on the LD Lines ferry down to Gijon .

From what I can remember the ride is easily done in a day.

Dunno about the latter sailing mention, but I guess Grahams reason for asking is that starting from Falmouth, Plymouth was deemed an easier access route .... The ride into/out of roscoff can be somewhat more entertaining than the dual carriageway of cherbourg/Caen/Le Havre (especially if one forgets to adjust ones watch )

LD lines are certainly by far and away the cheapest "western route" service provider, but you are limited to Portsmouth.

For alternatives look at Condor from Weymouth - St Malo using their fast-cat service via the channel islands and there are some faster route providers from Poole and Portsmouth too

Used Condor ferries last time & to be honest they're great, like the look of the St Nazaire ferry to Gijon, as you say LD Lines = Cheap

Booked a bottle run with them this weekend, staying over night in a decent (for France) hotel for less than £100, gf likes to think its a romantic valantines day gesture, but I actually really need some more wine to top the collection back up....

I use that ferry as often as I can and it is difficult to get a discount. Try to find someone who is in the property owners club. You can get a slight discount via them with a code.

I use the ferry because by the time I pay the fuel to get somewhere else it works out cheaper or close enough to the price not to worry. It also means my hols start 20 minutes after I leave the house!

I'm booked on it 3 times this year already as I love riding in Spain. If you want to know a few good routes over there gimme a shout. I usually ride between 300 - 600 miles a day. I'm sure you will have a ball on that busa!

Thanks for the replies. I sould have stated in my original thread is that I'm heading for the Algarve, the intention is to get to Spain as direct as possible (hence Santander), overnight stop couple of hundred miles into Spain and then spend the week relaxing and seeing the area once there. Will probably take a few more days on the return trip.

Did originally think of going next month to see WSB at Portamaio but last year's March weather there was not too good, the ferry crossing for March would have been £350ish. Looking to go in June now and the crossing is about £520.
