Thought this might be a bit of fun, plus a scare-fest.

When i was working on a members bike not too long ago i found this


it's a 10A fuse with copper wire wrapped around it - not fuse wire, just normal wire. It was actually in the ignition circuit which i think is normally 30A.

Couldn't believe it, anyone else found any other master bodges ?

on my 50 pretty much most of the rear end was held on with no more nails especially the light assembly

the majority of the fairing on my zxr400 was held on with zip ties

Ok first off here's some of my zip tie'ing wonders.. i rode the zxr round like this for a couple weeks whilst my mate sprayed the front for me!..



And back when I had my Rieju! ..Here's a pic of my exhaust sawn down and held on using a jubilee clip from a bathroom water pipe and sealed with some wood filler..



and although I'm still proud of this quite frankly,.. piece of art, my first rear paddock stand which in order for you to use, required two people to lift the back of the bike up whilst another shovved the iron bar through the expansion chamber and the axle! LMFAOOOO!!!!!

No pictures but in the early eighties i went to the headquarters if what is now an largish agriculturalmerchant in north devon, he was only a farmer then, near stibb cross to collect some drainage pipes, i had to move a tractor to get at the pipes, the fuse box was open too the weather, and there was not a fuse in it all of the fuses had been replaced with sawn up bits of 6 inch nail. i moved it as far away as i could and ran from it after i had stopped the engine

A couple of things come to mind...
In 2002 I bought a ZX-9R from a bloke who worked at MCN (that should have been sufficient warning in itself) - aside from it being absolutely minging beneath the fairing ("only rode it once in the winter"... my ar$e!) The crowning glory of his work on it had been after he'd had the wheels painted - when I removed the rear I noticed that the heads of all the brake disc mounting bolts were severely scored, and that the inside face of the rear caliper mount had some quite deep gouges in it. Initially I was quite worried that something was way out of line, until I removed the disc and found that the muppet had put it on back to front, ie with the counterbores on the mounting bolt holes on the inside, so instead of sitting within the disc and being nice and flush, the bolt heads had been proud of the disc and fouled the bracket really badly - it would have been impossible to turn the wheel by hand... and he hadn't noticed FFS! All he must have done was rev it up and dump the clutch and ride through it until the bolt heads had carved themselves some clearance through the aluminium of the caliper bracket... Anthony Orfeo, shame on you!

Another one is a Ducati Monster that an old girlfriend of mine owned, she bought if via ebay to go racing in the Desmo Due series, and her friendly local dealers helped her out quite a bit, including some "race prep" that I discovered when I serviced it for her a few months later...

You ignored the first rule of lockwiring - leave it loose enough to undo the bolt without removing the lockwire - any club racer will tell you that!!!!!!!
