M.O.T.

Post by gazaR1 »

for a bike to pass an M.O.T. what does it have to have lights wise ie brake light, headlight, indicaters etc,iv'e heard of daytime mot's but don't know much about them, also if your bike passed mot with all lights intact and then afterwards you removed them,is your bike still legal.
Basically i want to leave my track fairings on,and mot is up next month.

all you need for a daytime MOT is a electric horn and a reflector, if you have any lights still on the bike, remove them if possible or tape them up so theyre not visible. if one light is connected and working then all lights must work

I asked a MOT mechanic last week and he told me all you need is a horn... Deej is correct too about lights, if you have one working everything must be working, so make sure it's all gone, Headlight, Breaklight, indicators etc.

technically no, I regularly used to MOT bikes and trikes before they were registered, hence no reg number was available

the mot was issued against the frame number

no need anymore as MSVA for me means no MOT for 3 years anyway.

yeah i would guess so, you'd at least need a mot to ride it there

the mot is only valid whilst in the station so would pay to ask if would stay daytime only if your planning on refitting the road kit

This would be my concern as if refitting old fairings with lights etc you may need to have another MOT to make it legal
