Bloody chippings!!!!

Why do our sodding council / highways insist on using chippings as a resurfacing technique but fail to clean them up after!!! 
Ok I admit partly my own error for being a little stoopid but whilst coming from the Callington direction toward Plym I wanted to get a wriggle on so to speak so passed a few cars and tractors and combines along the way, I was approaching 5 cars towards Hatt R/A, I didn't want to be stuck behind a car on the fast left hander after the holland inn, so passed all but one car - Safely - up to the bend, halfway round and stuck behind a car I in my infinate wisdom decided as the car wasn't turning right and no traffic approaching I'll pass it in the right turn contraflow bit.
All was ok til I went into the chevrons and hit the grit!!!!
front stayed planted but back went slidey slidey! 
Managed to stay on it just fine and pass the car then proceeded to bugger off for the shame lol!
but seriously is that much to ask for a cleaning thing to go over there?
