Sorry don't know were to put this, I am hoping to travel soon from st austell to barnstable, know its going to be a long ride and may be difficult but I need to go!!
Whats the best route to take, are there any roads I am not allowed on, I am still fairly new to this and haven't ventured far yet, also how long will it take to get there roughly?!

There are any amount of routes you could take. IT's only motorway that I think you can't go on but I may be wrong on that.

Have a look on Google maps, put in start point and destination and see what comes up. YOu shouldn't have to worry about fuel stops so just pick a route that suits your trip. If you want to get there faster then stick to the main road. If you have time to explore then go via some places you have heard of. Importantly though, let someone know the route you are taking.

I assume you are on L plates, or on a 50cc moped,there are 2 routes i would suggest, one which will be pretty boring most of the way which will be leave st austell get on the A30 too okehampton then tkae the A386 to torrington then Barnstaple, or the route i would use, st austell onto the A39 too Wadebridge then camelford Bude, clovelly cross Bideford then barnstaple,

im with merv on this one, take the atlantic highway route, bodmin,camelford,bude,bideford and into barnstaple.
theres always the option of going up to launceston,then cutting across country towards bideford, then torrington and into barnstaple that way

I'd probab;ly do this one, you'll freeze this time of year though

Yea L plates and a 125! thanks for that,
I know about google maps but thought be nice to know if there is any decent routes that's nice to take on a bike seeing as its going to be a bit of a trek!

just looked at the map and i see bodmin too camelford will be best for you as Deej says not wadebridge as i said

Can't see others suggestions thanks to work fire-walls, but what about St A - Liskeard - Callington - launceston Torrington - accross to the A377 then up to Bideford

its a long way round moose but a fun route all the same

definatly i'd do bodmin, camelford, bude, bideford, barnstable. if you go this way and depending on day call in camelford for a brew and a warm up m8

Were abouts in camelford?! My bro lives in tresparret, so that route would be good! I did a torpoint run today, bludy freezing, need thicker gloves, but got her up to 65 at one point, including a petrol stop I did it in 1 hr and ten!!!
Hoping to do the barnstable run saturday!
didn't see any snow or anything any were today!!

torpoint in a hour n ten on a 125 is good,most cars take that long

the barney run is lovely on a bigger bike where you can make use of the open road, interesting to see what you feel of it on a 125

I did hayle to barnstaple last week when it was snowing, set off at 5pm so went the a39 way.Theres a mcdonalds,plenty of petrol stops and laybays to warm your fingers on the exhaust
Id stick to the coast road if youre not familiar with the area, plus if youre on a small cc bike, there's more overtaking opportunities for the queue of cars to get past!

Who^s your brother? used to live tressparrot then moved to marshgate. I live opposite the school in camelford now
