Hi folks. I am based in Bristol and I have a paper Age 70 licence. I passed my bike test in 1974 when I was 22 and I haven't used a motor vehicle for about 10 years. I read that holders of full motorcycle licences issued before 2001 can drive quadricycles on the roads including the Ligier Ambra etc, under category B1. However the DVLA web site seems to say that I can only drive trikes & Reliants etc because I passed my test so long ago. Anyone know anything about this?

You can drive quadricycles on a B1 licence. You passed your test in 1974 which means you can drive the ligia, etc on your licence. You can also drive the reliant kitten 4 wheeler as well,as it weighs less than 500kgs.

Good luck finding a Kitten, I've been looking for one for ages, to strip out and fit a Pan turbo motor into. There were a couple on ebay recently one fitted with an R1 motor and the other fitted with a 3.9 litre TVR motor, and big arches, bboth were over the 5K mark, but looked like a huge amount of fun. There's also a couple of kit cars based on the Kitten chassis, one which looks like an old style Morgan/Mg A series type thing which would also be good with a bike engine fitted.

Behind the front seats or in the normal front/mid-mounted type position? Guess you're going this route because of the shaft drive.

Even better do it too a Bond bug if you can find one

If I could find a Bond Bug, I wouldn't molest it in any way. Yes my intention is to fit the Pan motor in the usual place, with either a turbo or an Opcon blower on it with an air scoop in the bonnet, and some wider 13 inch wheels. But trying to find one is proving difficult, they do come up from time to time, but a lot are rotten in the chassis and need lots of work. I want to find one that is already MOTd and driving so it requires little effort to build it.
