I have a cbr400 nc23 i am working on as a project bike with a friend. It was running well after just putting a new battery in. Then after being left for a day it wont fire at all. It turns over fine but no spark.

The guy who had the bike previously said this was happening a lot with this bike and it worked perfectly every time they replaced the plugs, so the question for you guys is what is killing the plugs? I have had them out and they look perfect, just not sparking anymore.

check kill switch, over a period of time water gets in and carrodes the contacts.

I apologise, I completely forgot about introducing myself here. I guess I was distracted by how difficult it is to type long messages on my phone.

no probs,

check things like

fuel supply - is it on a hill ? those bikes dont have a fuel pump so are gravity fed
micro switch on clutch lever - engine cut out
stand micro switch - engine cut out
kill switch - open up the casing and check the contacts on the switch, clean them up.
wd40 and wire wool could be your saviour.

The fuel supply seems to be fine. It does have a fuel pump, which pissed petrol all over my leg, so that is definitely pumping.

As far as I can tell all the cut out switches are fine too.
The weird thing is the fault seems to be temporarily fixed with a new set of spark plugs, but after a couple uses the plugs stop working.

Plug caps? If a fresh set of plugs makes it fire maybe it's the connection on the caps themselves, maybe change the set, NGK plug caps for a set of 4 should be £10ish
