Are HID's worth buying for a bike?
Ive got a 2011 ZX10 and fancy a upgrade but not sure whether to buy HID's or just replace the bulbs.
Not even sure where to buy them from
Any advice please
many thanks

I got em on my sprint. Well documented that the standard low beam is utter shite. If there's no need for you to get them and you're happy with low beam then I wouldn't bother. BTW they were on mine when I bought it and a bloody good job too, all I had was a dark visor on my old lid and I had to ride the bike back from Essex in the dark. If I only had standard lights I would've had to ride with my visor open.
I would say worth the investment but only if you are not happy with low beam

Beam shape or pattern can also be an issue. H1's work well, H4's are utter sh!te for example. If the beam is good it may pass a 'kind' MOT (I think, I stand to be corrected on this). I have swapped my lens for a projector pod light and fitted HID bulbs, H1's, beam pattern is ace. But. I have also made it easy to refit normal H1 bulbs should I need to at MOT time.

You won't find a decent hi/low H4 kit. The design of the bulbs just does not work, believe me I have tried. Dipped beam light is scattered everywhere except where you want it. H4 HID's are truely awful. A much better option for you is to add a fused and relayed circuit and some 100w or more bulbs. These work very nicely. Just beware these bulbs get very hot so be wary at first to make sure nothing is getting damaged.
I use Ring Rally H4's in my van due to the lack of a usable H4 hid bulb, very good.
