Would any one consider buying one with 63500 miles showing?

Have been offered one, it's been stood for a while runs OK but needs tyres, fork seals, pads, service, MoT and general tidy up. Was thinking if I spend £500-£600 on it, would it sell for £2000? - Would anyone really spend that on a 63k miler or spend a bit more & get one with half the mileage.

I looked at it not knowing the mileage & was surprised, given the condition under the dust, what the odo showed after I connected a battery.

I might make a couple of hundred pounds on it but I'm more keen that it doesn't just sit there & rot away.

Buy it, sell the motor into the kit-car world (they completely rebuild them anyway) and flog the rest on ebay

I did think of that option, especially if it had some nice bits I could use on mine but other than a 4-1 system with a crappy Viper can, heated grips and a Scot-oiler it's totally standard.

Not sure what the going rate is for a motor, ecu & clocks.

If the price is right, and the work doesn't put you off, go for it.

Quite a few on ebay with quite high miles (40k+) and they are up for decent money.

I'd would have paid £2k for one with 63k on it a few months ago when looking for a bike. I doubt you would struggle making a few hundred by just listing on ebay as is for a quick turn around. If I had cash I'd have it s a second bike as mine kills me going up the A30 to visit my sister.

My friend actually has a 100k mile Hayabusa. he loves it and says he's going to ride it til the wheels fall off. Really reliable bike for how hard he rides it too..

I'd love a Hayabusa, mileage would be irrelevant to me providing it all worked.

Just an update on this.

I told a friend of mine about this & we picked the bike up a few weeks ago, stripped the bodywork off & found no horrors apart from a leaky Scot-oiler & half connected alarm. In fact it's very good under the dust & chain lube.

He has given it a good clean & MoT'd it with the tyres on it - even the fork seals have stopped leaking so either they've bedded back in or have run out of oil.

Looking forward to running it against mine to see how it goes.

There shouldn't be any issue with the bike. These bikes can run up to 100k no problem. Now for your friend to just get used to the new beast. I have a coworker with almost 100k on his bike...
