Thinking of getting a new helmet with internal sun visor , anyone used one or got any recommendations

Two of my lids have the internal sun visor.

First one is a HJC IS-Max. I wore it for about 2 months - found it very noisy. Has been shelved ever since.

Second is a Shark Vision-R. Very pleased with the extra wide aperture (reason for the 'vision'). All round it is comfortable, good fitting and the visor is used frequently. I haven't yet bought a Pinlock lens for it though.

Flip down sun visors are criticized by some for the 'trying to look like 'Top-gun' etc., (each to their own).

Things that may alter your choice are your preferences to the buckle and possibly the Sharp safety ratings.

The HJC is only a 3 star and has the seat-belt buckle type clasp.

The Shark Vision-R is 4 star with the micrometric adjustment.

As far as I'm concerned the sun visor is the only thing missing from my Shoei Qwest.

Currently have. Shark rsr2 carbon helmet , had it 3 years can't fault it .
Have a race fit black visor , but have been unwell for 4 mths which has left my eyes s sensitive to light change !
So need to able to swap visors from dark to clear frequently, so a flip down visor seems the obvious answer

I think you should get a big purple one...

Otherwise I have an internal visor and hate it. Never use it waste of time as it mists up easily. I'd rather use another darker visor or sunglasses.

I got rid of my helmet with and internal visor, don't think they are particularly good

Got a new carbon bell with 2 different visits instead

I've got a Caberg mid range helmet, the integral visor is bloody useful. No misting problems and don't think it contributes to noise, well it doesn't make a lot of difference to my ears, what with the tinnitus and all ;) .

Useful when the sun is coming in and out of the clouds, or if out later than expected whilst 'playing' !

+1 Badger. I know some hate them, but I find them very useful particularly in autumn or winter sun. On full sunny days (how often is that?) it does make sense to have a tinted visor. I don't have the misting problem, maybe because I clean the sun visor with snorkelling anti-fog liquid.

Have a caberg which is fine, isn't too noisy and never had any problems with misting. Stay away from the cheap helmets though, I have a friend has one that flicks down every time he hits a manhole cover, real pain at night. Some hate them some love them, me I think they're great.

I have the AGV Stealth with internal tinted visor and I love it. Not the quietest helmet but I don't like them too quiet. At low speeds you can ride with the main visor up, which is nice and cooling. When the sun is low or going through wooded areas in bright sunlight it's great, all you have to do is flick it up.

+1 Offshoreskipper... I've got a Shark S900 which has a flip down sun visor. Personally I think it's a great feature, very convenient and saves you the hassle stopping to change visors or take your sunglasses off. The Shark is cheaper than the Shoei's, Arai's, AGV's etc... but has 5 star safety rating (and glows in the dark! )
It is getting a little noisy now as the internal padding is 3 years old and has lost its form but apart from that it's a great helmet. Each to their own though, good luck with the search.

I like the idea in principle, and for the reasons given in the original post can certainly see the advantage for some. My only worry is that in packaging the helmet, the visor slices right through the centre of probably one of the most critical areas of paddng in the helmet - the forehead ...... Also, the risk of the visor slicing through ones nose is a little concerning .....

And on that cheery note my white Takachi makes me look like a copper!!

well my mate at work has a White CX500 with a rickman fairing, his whole bike looks like a copper's , all be it, the one from 'Heartbeat'!
