Hi, need advice. I have a cruiser that at some time in the past has had these mudguard embellishers added, you know, the ones that stick on the leading edges, anyway they are now getting really tatty, the chrome which was wafer thin has started to peel off and the alloy underneath is grey and furrey, my problem is trying to get them off without damaging the paint, anyone know of a solvent that would remove them as they are really on to stay, the double sided sticky stuff they are on with is powerfull, would be grateful for any ideas, cheers, Arnie

Gently does it with the aid of a hairdryer on low. It's how i get my old tank protectors off when they get tatty.

I tend to use lighter fluid, it gets off glue residue without damaging paint. You might need to apply a few times and allow to soak, but with a little elbow grease you'll get there ;) .

Yeah, Hair dryer/Heat gun carefully.
Old credit card to remove thick glue (warmed up)
Panel wipe to remove residue of glue

Thanks to all for tips on removal of the mudguard embellishers, they are now off will no damage, used all the tips you recommended and they worked a treat, thanks to all.

Petrol works wonders to get off residue too! Just make sure you use a clean rag
