I got a via 135 afher having a go 710 for years , the 710 was a good piece of kit hands free was good separate mic good volume , the via with built in mike absolutely useless as a hands free ,
get free life time map updates in deal , you think roads dont change much but they do ,

voice recognition /programming is a bit of a gimic ,
TBH if i was going again i would get a basic one europe ,mapping included with life time updates and as big a screen as possible ,

traffic master thing not worth the bother either , works on radio signals , and one night was giving me 78 hours to do a 15 hour trip through france because of weather warnings ,

Had a TomTom one Europe for about 8yrs and wouldn't be without now its brilliant. I must remember to carry it on the bike so as I'm cruising around and not quite sure where I am I could give co-ordinates for assistance should I get a puncture or whatever. Quite fun to turn it on in when flying as you can see exactly where you are , fastest I've seen 480mph.

Look out for deals for satnav with lifetime maps ( saves money on the updates). Also there are some shopping channels doing them with live traffic receiver as well as the map updates. Useful feature to avoid the jams.

Thanks Tom(tom)

The ones I've seen sometimes give you a year of live traffic then subs after...is it really that useful? I'm never normally in such a hurry :?:

As the population is increasing ( even here in the southwest) the traffic is likewise. We tend to use the live traffic more frequently nowadays to avoid jams. If you get it as an added feature then it is worthwhile, but if you have not had a need for it so far then maybe not.
Of course you can get traffic updates from AA & RAC websites before you leave but it will obviously not inform you of an accident that has recently occurred on your journey route.

there all as good as each other, the more you pay the better the quality. Ive had them all from the most expenise at well over stupid money so i get bells and whistles to the cheap £80 quid ones. They all did excatly the same job, some did free updates, others a 1 time payment ofr lifetime updates but they all got me to the same place in the same way I now opt for around the 140 mark to ensure i get europe maps BTH they all do excatly the same job. I tend to go through 1 a year as i use it loads of times a day to get to jobs and screns get damaged etc.

Take a trip to halfords and play, look and take the plunge. Failing that i catch loads of pigeons, im sure i can give you one
