Hi all

End of this year / beginning of 2016 I am planning on changing my bike for something a bit newer and possibly a bit different. As you will see from my signature I am currently on a GSXR 600 K1.

Current bikes I am considering:-
1) GSXR 750 K8 - more power, slipper clutch, power modes, styling
2) GSXR 600 L1 - more power, slipper clutch, lighter, better forks, better brakes
3) Honda CB1000R - riding position, POWER, TORQUE, styling, ABS,

It will be no surprise considering my current ride I kind of know what I am going to get with the option 1 & 2 however Internet reviews of the CB seem to be mixed. Does anybody here ride one or has had one as a previous bike?

I am a road rider that does ish 3 or 4 track days a year. What's your opinion of the bike? And would it be up for the job? I am considering it as I am looking for something that offers a more natural riding position but accelerates well.

From experience I didnt like the CB1000R had it for almost a year and did 4500 miles.
The handling really didnt suit me at all I lost a lot of confidence in corners. Comfort wise it was a great bike hydraulic clutch, The seat was good with a good riding position.
The build quality seemed poor the underside of the tank was really rusty and the pant work was easy to scratch.

The difference between the triumph and the cb is like night and day.

But I would say take one for a test ride though then take out another naked bike.

Was looking at doing some test rides including a triumph tripple so will give them a try. Thanks for the feedback.

More test rides the better! You're the guy with the money make them justify your purchase.

Interesting..... 2nd time I have heard that

Test rode a newer GSXR 750 and it was good. Light, easy to ride fast, good round twistes etc. As you have a 600, I wouldn't get another.
Speed triples get good reviews if you want an upright.

My mates had CB1000R for the last 5 1/2 years. One of those bile green ones (he got it cheap). Done about 30'000 miles on it now. Apart from oil and filters and a set of front pads he hasn't touched it on general maintenance. He had the stator burn out last year which Honda paid for the bits for (as he already had it apart otherwise they would of repaired it for nowt too.) Has never touched the suspension, it rarely gets washed or the chain lubed(still original chain/sprockets) and its looking a bit rough around the edges but he loves it.
I rode it once. It was just a bit Honda dull. It was on my short list to buy before he got one but I think a test ride would of changed that .
plenty of other options out there now. BMW S1000R starts at £10200 OTR. The new Suzuki, Tuono V4,Triumph speed (bit long in the tooth now), Z1000,etc. all plenty quick enough on the road and all capable of trackdays.

Go and get some test rides. A bike is only as good as the rider at the end of the day.
