Has anyone had any experience with one of the belts. Would especially like to know if it's been with small children. I have a six year old I take to school in the mornings and was thinking of getting one but am worried that I will not feal any response or know if he is holding on. Any reviews/advice would be much appreciated.

I use one when Kim has come along as pillion, no problems at all.
Trouble is trusting the pillion to hold on to the belt and to understand why they must.

So are you saying you don't get any response/feeling if they are holding on or not. And I'm talking at riding slowly (30 at tops) not where you would get feed back from a fast pull away.
Sounds like I'm better off having him holding on to me where at least I have some feeling.

Yeah, until you can trust him to hold on.

I had one for my kids and would suggest they're (generally) far better than holding on to a jacket. With the belt (love handles is the common name) they have a proper rubber grip handle to put their hands around/through and hold on to. With a jacket they have to clutch some scrunched up material, which would be easy to slip out their hand, and perhaps not so easy to re-grip if needed.
For the sake of £10-15 I'd get one, personally.

I keep looking at them for Tess to use but she says she prefers to hold onto me as she can dig me in the ribs when necessary

I got a set of love handles off eBay for £7:50 with free postage
My daughter feels safer using them than holding on to the bike handles or my jacket

My wife would recommend them. She hasn't liked holding on to the grab rails since I had my ribs messed up. Oh, and Badger you can tell Tess the digging int he ribs still works perfectly. In fact the length of the handles may give her more distance to get the momentum going for a real jab or two.
