Last ride on the bike started fine but after a while the Busa was getting a bit vague at speed and when laying the power down.
Shocked when I got home to see:-

There absolutely was over 1mm tread when I left home
Soon sorted with:-

Point is I checked the tyres and saw over 1mm of tread, and while the tread was obviously low I did not expect the tyre to get so bad in 200 miles. (I run 34psi front and 37psi rear and always check before a long ride)

Legal limit 1mm over 3/4 of tyre I think if just over when leaving for a 200 mile on a busa the odds where it was going to be illegal after 100 !! Recipe for disaster if you ask me but your life

I've had a couple of Pirelli tyres do that at the end of their life on the KTM.
Normally with 1 and a bit mill left, 200 wouldn't be a problem over a week or so but one ride with the heat build up it just chunked away.
On a connected but random note, any guesses how many miles I got out of an Avon Storm 2 on my Hayabusa - I'll give you a clue, the fronts normally last 4 - 4500miles?

Depends Graham. I've heard of people in the states who reckon they get 13500 out of Storms on a TL, whereas the one time in tried them I got about 3k ........ So it could be 10k or it could be 1k.
I've killed a set of Avon's in just over 1k, yet on the same model tyre got 4k - different types of riding & roads.
Sustained high speeds murder tyres - you'd be surprised how much "slip" there can be between tyre and road .....
