Anyone near Truro have a trailer? Or some time.

My daughter's partner's bike is currently abandoned at the side of a road and despite cleaning the carb no fuel getting through so I need to get it moved asap. I'm happy to buy one for the right price or donate a bottle of your favourite for a thank you if I borrow one.
If it's a sale I really want a box trailer as my Deauville is currently left at the roadside outside our house and I'd like to get it under cover and that would solve two problems in one.
It's only a SR125 so easy to handle but won't quite go in the back of my passat.
As an alternative if you fancy working on it as a project (paid but keeping costs down as much as possible) that might work out. They are totally skint atm but I can sub them a bit as needed. Given the bike is ancient and tatty any major cost would not go down well! After cleaning the carb all I could see is cracks in the pipes between engine and carb but not all the way through. I know nothing but a total lack of fuel seems weird (plenty int he float chamber).

i would help but am a bit far away. sorry.
i don't know is jay still has his trailer though.
check that the fuel pump is pumping (if there is one) sounds silly but is there fuel in the tank? is it on normal and not reserve?
pull the fuel line off the tp and turn the tap to ON and then onto RES to see if the fuel is flowing from the tank itself. If it is, refit the pipe and then open the tap to see if the fuel is making it that far.
With some older bikes there is vac pipe that goes from the carb to the back of the fuel tap, make sure this is fitted and in one piece, if it's not, you won't get any fuel from the tank.
try that

Dai,
Just got in & seen this message.
I'm in Falmouth with a trailer, need half hour to put together as it's a collapsible one (currently collapsed).
I'm out tomorrow night but could chuck it together right after work if you can be here for 5:30. Or I'll give you a hand early Weds evening.
My number's on my For Sale ad.

Don't want to put you to too much trouble Graham but that would be great. I'm struggling to think this morning due to an unexpected challenge at work but I normally get home around 5:30. Even if I can't my wife is there so just let me know when is best for you. I may not be able to ring before this evening due to the work thing.

Dai,
My plans for this week have changed, I'm now free tonight but not tomorrow.
Give me a call when you can.
Graham

Nope. Too much other stuff going on this week. I still think it's fuel not getting in but am at a loss why give the simplicity of the carb on those. I did think valve but Graham confirmed what I thought which is that there should have been some nasty noises if so. Planning to have a look at the valve in operation when I can and take it from there. I have no garage/workshop so have to pick my times.

No problem Martin, thanks for your help putting the trailer together.
My money's still on the plug/plug cap before you start pulling anything else apart.
Let me know if you want me to have a look at it one evening.

I will start with the easy stuff first and move on to the pipes and valves if it's not the plug. I still think it is fuel not spark so we'll see who is right! I always start by eliminating the obvious when I am working on computers (my field) so will transfer that to working on bikes.
Billi, I did read through your post and have just again. It's a really basic system - gravity fed - so no fuel pump but fuel is getting to the carb as I can drain it. Also dismantled it and cleaned the float chamber and main jet and turned fuel on to check and plenty flooded out. No extra pipes I can see (just the one from tap to carb) so unless it fell off and I am missing the connecting points (which I will check when I start) it's not that.
I don't mind doing the work as I am keen to learn and I'd rather learn on that than my 250 which doubles the challenges and is much more precisely engineered and complicated as well. The Deauville and it's injection can go to someone else for the foreseeable future.

Did you get the SR sorted Martin? If so what was the cure?
Hope you won't need it but I've re-jigged the trailer so it can be assembled as a single bike one - less bits to put together.

Oh yeah I meant to post what happened in the end.
Turned out to be a complete top end failure due to a small issue of no oil at all. I just never checked that at the time because I assumed it would make some noise and it didn't when it happened or when I tried to start it afterwards. You live and learn.
Ironically I used that as an opportunity to do the talk on maintenance to my daughter about her bike and she ignored me and yesterday I got chance to see her bike and a very low level of oil and a chain which could be used to lasso things. Great.
