Yeeees........agaiiiiiin

Some wretch tried to nick my bike this evening. The immobiliser prevented them.
However, they have ripped the wiring out of the ignition and damaged the lock with (probably) a screwdriver.
Too cold and dark to do anything so I left it and walked home.
Will go back tomorrow to assess the damage and make plans as to where to have it taken.

Have you considered moving? I know parts of Bristol have a "reputation", but I have never known anyone have the kind of grief you have

Had a traumatic time getting it onto a slip-slidey recovery truck.
Tiz not the area, best guess is that it was someone from the hairdressers-trying-to-kick-a-ball cup replay just across the river.
Light at the proverbial end is that...(a) I have another ignition switch, and...(b) I won't have to drill out the hardened bolts as I can swap the complete top yoke...I think !!

Goody, swapping the yoke will work.
Had to resort to the torque wrench to get the required leverage to undo the 30 mm top nut.
Tomorrow is another day...and so to bed dear reader.

Motor parts direct atm have 1/2" 2foot long breaker bar with lifetime Warrenty even on the knuckle for only £15 ish.
Definitely worth the investment.
Glad it was an easy ish fix for you though

I've had both advices re torque wrench. Some say it's OK...screw it up to max and don't continue if it clicks. others say it's not to be used to undo nuts.
Needs must as the devil drives, and I have no other transport. D/y on breaker bars from the net was uncertain and I need the bike back on the road asap.
It's only 65 megatons, so I went for it. Will get a bar soon (ta for the heads up Ruffy) . Might need to have the tank off tomorrow to access the main multi-plug.
So cold, need a

break every 10 mins.

Turned the key...nothing.
Nothing more I could do. Distraught, cold, hungry. Sun well over the yardarm so sat down with a glass of something dark from the West Indies.
Immediate brain massage...could it be...YES, 30a fuse blown. Vroom !! First kick.

Result! Glad your back on the road, now to find the scum who tried to knick your bike and really put that torque wrench to good use ;) ......
