Well now that winter sets in and the sports Bike is washed lubed and tucked about for the next 4 months it has already made me think to the future ride outs if 2018 and what great fun we can have.
If they start looking anything like this then perhaphs it might be time to start doing track riding only

Is it not on YouTube?
4 months with no ride !!!
But I guess you're used to that what with being married
Come out to play, it won't kill the bike.

Yes me too looking forward to next year. I definitely aim to get out more. Bike should be sorted next month. I am going to be avoiding mud from now on, especially on a corner.

When did that happen and where?
On Sunday, whilst fixing a mates puncture, I noticed a pretty fresh gouge in the tarmac, it was accompanied by various scrapes that lead to a muddy puddle near the apex of the corner, and then I noticed some oil floating on the water of said muddy puddle.
Someone had a bad day there earlier on for sure.. the road were very slippy and that was also a mud skimmed corner so particular hazardous to road bikes.
That's why mine are currently residing in a tent material bubble with a 20W bulb under each to keep them warm.

We did a ride a few months back and got to a right, left, right that dipped in the left turn and had mud patch under so trees. Unfortunatly the front wheel hit the mud whilst lent over a bit and that was that.
Luckily Millsyboy was not hurt but bike damage.

I have given up track riding as its only something you can kinda do during the summer months and then rains on the day of your track day
however I have discovered green laneing and now ride all year round hot cold ice snow wet or dry its cheap (sort of

) and truly the best fun I have ever had on two wheels
ANY bike time is good time and practice for whatever floats your boat
I just hope that if I ever do a track day again I am not too slow !!!

Fat chance on that one. I followed you round Llandow in June and you weren't hanging around then.
Green laning is what I want to try Next.

Dunno about green-laning. We do brown-laning round here (not a euphemism you dirty minded little buggers), there's definitely no grass to be seen on the tracks and trails.

I think trail riding makes you a better/safer a road rider, might even make you a better track rider too.
Being use to the feeling of your bike sliding means if it happens on the road it shouldn't automatically trigger your panic reflex, meaning you have time to decide what to do about it, or at least brace yourself for what is gonna happen next.

I did Mablethorpe beach race last weekend for the first time. Great fun way to get your winter bike fix, nothing prepares you for the sand. The speedway and grasstrack guys were awesome, I on the other hand was not.
Just a shame it's so far.

Agreed, it's too far for most of us down here. Beach racing is popular in the Channel Islands also, but again it's difficult, pricey and time consuming getting there. If some Mablethorpe-style beach racing could be organised somewhere nearer us i.e. Weston-Super-Mare or Brean Sands, I guarantee there's be a big turnout from the Southwestern grasstrack riders - counting solos and sidecars there's a lot out there. I'd certainly be there with my grasstrack outfit and I know of quite a few others that would too; the oganisors'd have to fight us off with pointy sticks

!
Ducaki - is the Mablethorpe racing run under ACU rules & reg's?

Robbo can't find ACU mentioned on my paperwork. Lanyard killswitch were needed.
Mablethorpe is finding it difficult to keep the numbers up, despite a big speedway and flat track following in the area. Probably about 60 riders.
What's the cheapest and easiest way into grasstrack Robbo?
