Do we have a Cornish contingent?

I'd like to try and plan a couple of days riding around Cornwall and I'm looking for possible routes, or at least some 'good roads' recommendations (feel free to PM them).

I did a ride last weekend as we had some guys down from Wales and it was great to get out and about down in deepest darkest Cornwall. :)):
We stayed at a pub/campsite just out Okehampton and I think that would be a great venue for a forum camping weekend after the kids go back to school.

So first I'd like to get some good routes sorted and then I see if there is actually any interest within SWB for a camping weekend in Cornwall.

Smiler found a nice pub/campsite near Hayle a few years back. Trouble with Cornwall is traffic for daytime riding at this time of year ....

Was OK last weekend, and I'm actually aiming to do it in September.

I'd be up for a look-see at that :-bd . Our pasty noshing Cornish cousins will have to go some to beat our Devon biking roads though; are they up to it we ask?

How about a challenge? Cornwall to show us yours first, then we'll show you ours, then we can have a vote, making a SWB social day and/or B & B night of it somewhere on or near the county border. Drekly after the school holidays'd be a good time to think about the first run I reckon.

I'm happy to plan the Devon run, making it similar in length to the Cornish one, and no more than two weeks after.

Pub meet & vote a.s.a.p. after that.

Ball's in your court Cornwall . . . . .

The roads around Crantock are very nice.

Ok, but that sounds a lot more complicated than just a 2 night stay at a campsite and 1 or 2 days riding, with some chat & nice food.

The views along the north coast road are great and once you get down past St Ives the roads are a lot of fun.

What I want to do is build some routes and see where might be best.
Just looking at the map Bodmin area might be a better base.. I dunno, just looking at it for now...

The coast road from St Ives, to Sennen and round to Newlyn is good.
My Superduke enjoyed them very much.
I bet there are also some real nice ones inland... just need to know which ones...

Speak to Badgerkdd on here. He's a moderator on here plus the Little Cornish pixie never leaves the county.

Has been said Cornwall is no match to the Devon and Somerset roads, but great idea and think I could link up a few good roads and maybe put Bodmin moor into the mix and some scenic back roads, Port Isaac, Port Quin etc. For me a good ride out would be to meet up Great Torrington and blast down into Cornwall, a few inland roads and down the north coast.

lol - that's the plan.

An end of season'ish camping weekend (or glamping as I'll likely be taking my camper).
The pub/site is pretty laid back and there is probably no need to book so people can decide at last minute whether they want to come or not, but I'll go into it more later, for now I just want to establish some routes first.

Even the Cornish don't ride in cornwall, way too many speed traps and check points 😂

You can get the Bike on the camper? Cool

Well, for Llandow I put my SD in the back of the camper, but that was with the bed stripped out.
Last weekend I put the SD on my bike trailer and dragged her down to Okey.

Was originally planning to ride over and camp but as I'd suddenly decided to sell my trusty Vstrom, and had spent a considerable amount of time fettling her (and she looked mint), I deemed her too clean for use. So I used the SD for the ride instead but I have no way load up the SD with camping gear... so out with the trailer, and best of all I then had my camper to sleep in.

Will probably do the same next time, that is unless my camping gear will fit on the new bike... whenever that arrives...
