Not Good Therapy

Just beginning to get some confidence back when....
Ashton by pass (A370) into Bristol, drifting down the outside lane and closing on 2 cars on the inside lane. The front one of these suddenly tries a u-turn, can't get into the outbound carriageway and ends up broadside and stationary across one and a half lanes. Frightened me sick. Was scared to brake too hard.

Did get an S.Q.I.R.M. on but the rear car had cleared the ass of tother one and I got inside. A bit of cadence this time.
Would not have liked it in the wet.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Look at the positives.
You were looking ahead, using your hazard perception skills, spotted an impending disaster, and avoided it.
Usually you would probably have had your mind wandering off who knows where because of the mundanity of the journey, but thanks to recent events you were alert, paying attention and able to save yourself.

So sayeth the old soothsayer.
In your particular case Larry, I'm with Mr Moose; recent events have conditioned your brain/reflexes- call it what you will - to be more alert than perhaps you might ordinarily have been; and you saved the situation. There's a salient lesson there for all of us - to expect the unexpected.
