Fork seal leak

Post by Dylan »

Something I noticed with my ZZR today after cleaning and polishing it - One of the fork seals is leaking :(
So something else to add to the list "tut"

(I'm in a mood because I really would just like to go to a shop and buy what I need the day I need it)
Hmm thinking of trading it in for something else... I fancy an old Ninja 9er..

At least they're right way ups! I'v got a weeping seal on one of the Gix's leg, not so confident on upside down forks as I am on RWU's I hear they are a bit more complicated once you get them apart :? . I have got a rather agricultural but handy tool for holding the inner nut in place, rather than the old broom handle technique. it was custom made to fit my old Bandit 400 forks but I'm willing to lend if it'll fit yours?

USD forks are incredibly easy, I have a special tool that works extremely well and holds the fork as well as compressing the damper cartidge to allow removal of the top nut, and subsequent reassembly.

Ah ha, sounds like a tool! Did you buy it or was it something you fabricated? If so is it the sort of thing I could make given the right bits and a bit of jiggery pokery? A photo would be great or a site address if its a bought un. Cheers Jam :D !
