TS 50 isnt running, any advice?

TS 50 isnt running, any advice?

Im new here so first of all, Hello to everyone :D

I have a bit of a problem with my Suzuki TS50, on dry days it runs fine but when it rains and the bike gets wet it occasionally cuts out and then takes ages to restart.

Of course this also happens when i wash it, meaning that i was left unable to go anywhere this morning :S

I replaced the coil and HT lead recently if thats of any importance

Go round all the exposed wiring connectors you can find, take them apart and make sure all the conacts are clean, and put a little bit of petroleum jelly (vaseline) around them to help waterproof them. :?
Also make sure that the plug leads, cap, etc., are also waterproofed as well as possible. :D
Failing that, do like me and drive the car in the rain :lol:

do you have a after market air filter? ie the k&n style ones???

could be water gettin under the plug cap, after you wash it, spray some WD40 up the plug cap and try again, should do it, if not then its air filter

bingo, if u got an air box make sure its sealed up nicely. and the only hole is the one thats ment to be there. make sure u got no holes in ur carb and water aint gettign it. make sure no watter in and around the plug and HT lead.

and like age says, doo as moose says he seems to know what hes on about :roll: :wink:

Hey thanks, ive had a little look at the exposed electrics but ill have a tinker with them tommorow and also the air filter althogh im not sure its that since its hidden behind a panel :D

and why drive a car? (that i dont have lol) a bike isnt just for sunny days you know lol (gotta love those icy winter mornings :D)

might be worth taking the coil off and putting it in a rubber glove and sealing it up, and also seal the spark cap some how, hard to tell wat the probablem is with out a few more tests


next time it does it, take the cap off and spray some WD40 up there and over the surround ellectrics, if it help then you know what the probablem is,

or remove the airfilter and wash and dry it and re oil and re insert and see?

Be carefull doing this as it can create condensation in side causing even more probs.

Is the plug ok? Make sure there's no cracks in the ceramic. If there is you can sometimes see a spark going down the outside of the plug at night, but if the warter's getting in there that could be a problem.

On a seperate note, i took my sons TS50 for an MOT last weekend :?
One side of Yeovil to the other with only half throttle, such a change from a 750 Suzuki :shock:

good point!

i smeared slicone around the wire joint to stop water gettin up there and added a plastic plate infront of the plug attachted to the frame and it cured my probablems, was water gettin under the plug
