Can you help Dave and his bike? ? PLEASE READ

Post by Dave »

Well it is Sunday (17th) and I am about to crack on with the bike.

If any of you find yourself with nothing to do, then please feel free to pop up over, most of you know where it is, the others can phone for directions on 07748173615.

Got many jobs to do, but if anyone inparticular is a dab hand at sanding, filling fibreglass etc, then you are very very welcome :D .

Might see some of you later.

P.S. Walk down the side of the house, don't bother with the door bell as I will be round the back.

Cheers funky 8), will let you know next week depending on what still needs doing.

Jobs acheived today.
Sanded and filled front fairing (Now ready for primer)
Repaired right hand air duct, sanded and applied two coats of knifing putty (Couple more coats required before painting).
Made a new exhaust mount, sprayed it and fitted the exhaust. (it's HUGE  )
Fitted new handlebar and mounted switch gear (What a palavor  )
Re-shaped headlight/front fairing mount (Cheers Chris :D )
Single seat cowl sanded/filled and ready for paint (Cheers Chris)
Painted new magneto cover.
Fitted new magneto cover.
Oil Change.
Re-fitted undertray, rear lights and number plate.
Removed decals from rear fairing. (That shit is fookin sticky)
Fitted air box.

Most of what is left is all cosmetic work, will be doing some jobs as I can in the evenings after work.

Still waiting for footpegs, front brake lever, and gear lever to arrive from ebay.

Had a few more parts through the post today, so here's what I got done.

Sanded down air duct again (Needs more filler).
Primed front fairing, 98% smooth, not bad considering the state it was in, will putty the rest tomorrow.
Fitted new brake and clutch levers.
Fitted new gear lever.
Managed to bend RH foot rest bracket enough so it is usable, had to sand and paint. (Looking for a new one on ebay ASAP)
Fitted new foot pegs.
Got some of the glue of the rear fairing where the vinyls where. (Bloody sticky stuff) Spent about 3 hours on the rear fairing now and am tempted to sand the rest of the glue off.

Where here it is now.

I can pop down tomorrow if you want Dave?

I'm not that mechanically minded but I am good at making tea, eating and polishing. :D

Cheers for the offer jon, but all the mechanical stuff is done now, just the tedious jobs left now i.e. sanding, painting filling etc...

If you got nowt to do then feel free to pop down anyway if you like, haven't spoke in a while.

Cheers bud.

UPDATE Monday 19th June

Tonight's work.
Re-sanded the front fairing after last nights primer, re-filled the last few marks and sanded again. Now ready for more primer and should be a ok.

Sanded / Re-Filled and re-sanded the air duct, should be able to paint on that next to see if there are any more visible marks.

Finally got all the glue off the seat fairing, filled and sanded, this is also now ready for primer to spot any marks.

Managed to start it up properly today, seems to be firing ok, and starting reliably.

Got the side fairings odd (left is my old one right is from a K2 750), front fairing, headlight and screen also went on (front fairing from a 1000 K1).

Old tank still needs alot of sanding, seat fairing just needs primer and paint and it's ready to ride.

Lots of sanding / repairing / painting still to be but I am itching to get back on the bike. Altough my shoulder is aching like mad at the moment so gave up early tonight.
