Good tents

Post by Jan Solo »

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a tent that is compact and good and waterproof that will fit on a bike.

Halfords do a line but are they cumbersome? Any ideas??

i got quite a good one cheap from trago mills - it is pretty small, as anyone who saw it at llandow will tell you - only really big enough for one me (or a squeeze for 2 regular sized people), but it packs down small and has withstood some heavy rain and wind well. it was only about 15 quid as well - think it was a litchfield apache but need to check
gsx-aaaaaaaargh!!!

One i have used a few times is this one

http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acata ... ent_1.html

Also depending what weather you will be camping in the higher the hydrostatic head the better for waterproofing. You want a min of 1500mm here. But abroad you will need it more. My big boy has 5000mm and never lets a drip through.

Also Tapped seams is a deffo for strengh and weather proofing.

And I thought all you had to do was buy a plastic dome that could squeeze me in!

Why? I saw one that was £30 and now £20 - I am not a big time camper so thought it would do for the weekend.

just buy any old tent and a couple of bungie cords. It have to be an 8 man tent or something if it didnt fit on a bike. Most tents now are so compact they are smaller than sleeping bags.
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it

£250 to you. Maybe a prob fitting on back of bike though.

Can always buy a little trailer. It folds into a small holdhall bag.

Is it too big for what you want
