After months of deliberation and the fact both the theory test and practical test are changing the misses has finally agreed to go for it.
Now i've booked her theory and the intention is for her to take her test on a 125cc scooter (automatic) she really does not want to go for gears. Now in my understanding apon passing her test she would have a full bike license retricted in hp for two years and restricted to Auto vehicles for life.
Two people have now said to me that the auto bit will not apply as there is no distinction on the Bike test.
Whilst wishing them to be right im pretty sure they are not, could anyone confirm or deny after passing her test on an auto she will be restricted to an auto.
Thanks guys
Kev

why dont you just get her to pass her test on a geared bike then she can ride what ever she wants, things may change in the future and she may want a geared bike and then have to do it all again, just a thought !!!

Yep thats the best idea but then again we are talking about the misses here LOL joking aside she really does not cope well with tests etc and going through the CBT - Learning to ride having never tried - Theory Test - Pratical test is going to be hard enough let alone getting used to gears.deej wrote:why dont you just get her to pass her test on a geared bike then she can ride what ever she wants, things may change in the future and she may want a geared bike and then have to do it all again, just a thought !!!
To be fair i really didnt think she would take to it, was only when we got her 125cc that i could see how much she loved going out and how anywhere to ride was great. Now its not fast enough and she wants to move up, for her to make it, will mean one step at a time.

I had major probs with gears but stubborn as i am I refused to go to automatic. When i passed my cbt (couldnt afford bike) so Gav use to take to a carpak and let me pratice gears and clutch control on his bike, which really helped
