i particularly like this quote.

"The law-abiding motorist has nothing to fear however, those who disregard the laws of the road should think very carefully about their driving, as they have everything to lose.

i don't think it applies if ur a copper and get caught speeding.
u could use the old favourite ' i was familiarzing myself with the vehicle guv'

The county's coffers low again?
It would be nice to think that they will actually target bad driving, but the cynic in me thinks that all they're really interested in is making a quick buck.
It's a shame that we have to think of the police in this way, but they've brought it on themselves with the way that the motorist has been so obviously used as a cash cow over the years.

Just watched a peice on Westcountry news about this, it looks like the cars they're using are Vauxhall Vectra's in dark blue/black & silver, both in estate & saloon version. The blue lights are in the back window, but you'll probably find they're the pop up version.
There seems to be about 4 cars, but there's probably more.
Virtually all of the news item was about speeding, so it's obvious it's more about money making than bad driving.

Correction/alteration, also Skoda's by the look of the BBC's coverage.
But yet again the focus appears to be on speeding....

Got this from the uk speedtrap guide website

Motorbikes are also being used and these are very hard to spot, but one give-away is that they stand out as being better bikers on new clean machines with add ons such as heavy side panniers to protect the video and radio equipment.

Saw this on BBC Devon News
Police in Devon and Cornwall are going undercover to tackle speeding motorists and those whose driving intimidates other motorists. Operation Vortex will involve the use of a fleet of unmarked cars to patrol main routes in both counties. Unmarked motorcycles will also be used on roads such as the M5, A38 and the North Devon Link Road.

Motorists who tailgate other vehicles or use mobiles phones will also be targeted by police.

The operation will run for a month and officers said the law will be robustly enforced.
I have no problem with them targetting the pregnant goldfishies who make life more dangerous for us.

... or use mobiles, or even drive with toddler standing up on their lap (spotted up the road from me while I walked my daughter to school ).
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely
