rear brake switch

rear brake switch
Following on from our new purchase (RF600), does anyone know why the rear brake light might not work whilst operating the rear brake pedal ? Front brake lever lights it up fine, is there a swich somewhere or any other reason it might not work ?
Thanks
Steve

Yes, there is a separate switch for the rear pedal.
look around the pedal area and you should find a spring leading off the pedal somewhere to a switch unit

It's a banjo bolt with a pressure activated switch in it. It replaces the standard brake banjo bolt at the master cylinder. If you fit this - you can remove the standard brake switch - worth it on the rear to avoid the rust / crud problem, almost essential if you fit rear sets.V6 Mondy wrote:I think i might have to have a look at the weekend now, since it's dark at like 3pm now![]()

take the rearset off and give the switch a clean using a toothbrush,
as above, get the wd40 on it and manipulate it by hand until the light begins to work, if that doesnt fix it make sure u dont have a break in the wire.

The normal switches are adjustable so you might just need to wind it up a little. Mine kept needing adjusting but was a pain to get to so I put a banjo switch on, more reliable
