NURBURG RING TRIP 2008
Do you guys organise a trip to the ring, as i'm new to this forum, just wondering if in the past you have, i've been there 3 times now and enjoyed every minute,
you plan such a trip?

A couple people have, but not recently, I think it was about 2 years ago they went. I think it was sprocket, long distance dan and Andrew.
Sprocket rarely posts on here now

is there any hint of a plan or mentioned, i've done it in the car and had a good time missing the barriers just thought i'd ask just in case the plan is put into motion

i might be planning a trip later in the year in the car with bikes on trailer.
if you need advice contact cvpiper as he goes regularly,well annually.

I'm hoping to go later this year (late may/ early june).
Whats all this about taking bikes on trailers?? If you do go down this route, ensure you take ALL bike documents. Remember, the Ring is a public road and bikes should be insured/ taxed/ mot'd.
When I was there last time, a brit came down on his trackbike (with daytime mot) and wasn't allowed to go round. This was because the bike didn't have indicators, mirrors, and a headlight. It may of had an english mot, but the marshalls wouldn't let him round (I think after much complaining, they let him have one lap at the end of the day)
Also I've heard that they are tightening up on noise and that 95db is the absolute maximum. The good news is that they've banned from going round.

Quick edit of my last post. Was meant to say they've banned buses going round.
Deej, recommend you don't trailer bikes right up to the Ring.Parking spaces there are very hard to come by. If its a weekend, its hard to find a space to park a bike, let alone a car and trailer. Also you'll probably have less hassle from marshalls if you ride to the Ring (ie leave the car and trailer at hotel/ campsite)

Deej, thats just what I've read on some other websites. I was warned last year about going there with a Yoshi race can I my old 03 R6 but had no problems.

I have been there a couple times, and rode there. I shall be going for a long weekend this year, not sure when yet but June/july is likely.
This time I will most likely be driving there with the bike in the back of my pickup. Only because if you smash your bike up you have some way of getting it home (providing you dont do a number on yourself obviously).
It will be rode down to the carpark once I get to the hotel. like someone mentions above on a busy day getting a car in and out is a nightmare. The bike has to be road legal. I have always gone with a stock can to save falling foul of noise regs but thats because my old race can was bloody loud. The race can one on my new bike has a removeable insert thingmy so should be ok with it bunged back in (which is good because reverting my K7 back to stock isnt something I want to do)
I bloody love the nurburgring but it has downsides - It aint cheap (if you can do 15 to twenty laps in a day then thats £200 odd just in toll fare for one day) its also quite dangerous (mild understatement) , and you dont make it that much safer by going slower in fact I think its more intimidating the slower you go as you get engulfed by faster vehicles and you get some scary car drivers there that you do not want coming up behind you. Once you get to a point where you are the one doing all the overtaking its fine although I still have a bit of a mental block on a couple of the faster armco lined zero run off corners - particularly the double apex one (cant remember what its called).
the place is a model of german efficiency with regards to keeping the place open on busy days - you could die there and they would have cleared you away from the track and the road re-opened within 30 minutes so every one can carry on none the wiser.
If someone wants to organise something for a long weekender then Ill probably be in. If not I will post up when I decide on the dates I am going.
