Has anyone noticed the item on MCN website about the Government instructing all Police forces to target motorcycles during April?

Apparantly its for our own good.

you belive everything you read in MCN

to be fair the covers are starting to come off the bikes that have been laid up since september and their riders are out for thrills.

I saw a pair of classics on monday, they overtook me over a solid white line going into a left hand bend that then went straight into a resonably quick right hander, I was a bit annoyed because the overtake was carried out very slowly and then they caused be to slow a little for the right hander before they buggered off into the distance on the next straight.

If I hadn't been in the car towing my caravan I'd have been going quite a bit faster

and the bikes - 07 GSXR1000 and a 'Busa

MCN love to play the hard done motorcyclists card - its always full of scaremongering about imposing limits, restrictions, crackdowns...etc etc...

I would guess being a weekly their hands are a bit tied - there can only be so much bike related news around on a weekly basis leaving them forever clambering for any old rubbish to put in it.

thats my point exactly, they havn't earned the title

'More Crap than News'

for nothing, if they toned down the tabloid style shock horror look what they are trying to do to us now style I recon they'd get more readers.

To an extent that is fair comment however, it appears that a senior copper has confirmed it. You guys can look upon it as you will, me - I'm going to keep my eyes peeled when I'm out.

dont you do this as a general rule anyway? There isn't going to be a hundred brand new traffic cars out just to stop bikers, they only have a certain number of resources and while they may target honey pot places like west bay on bank holidays, every other day of the week, surely, they will be going about their business as usual.

Yes there are and they're all after me! They're around every single corner and up in towers with their binoculars and cameras and night vision goggles. I think they have bugged my garage and track my movement by sattelite....

MCN = Mostly Contrived Nonsense
Usual Shock Horror Bollocks then is it? Just keep your wits about you people, don't go daft in silly places - popular biking hangouts, ring roads, built-up areas and the like, keep a low profile and have fun in peace :D

.....the same april crackdown they have had every year for the twenty odd years I have been on road bikes. ok sometimes its a month or two either side that they give it to the press (read as mcn who are the only people in the uk motorcycle press that ever publish it). I would wager money that article comes from a police PR release.

everyones gotta pretend they are doing the extra push whatever job they are in and traffic police are no exception.

I think traffic police are employed to do a job - if a copper catches you riding out side the law it wont matter whether your in a PR crackdown month...... it'll be primarally down to the offence, the copper and how you interact with them.

LOTS of police around Torquay at the moment, seen them get several young people in tarted up cars, golfs, civics and the like using several different unmarked cars as well, saw a golf pulled today by two in an unmarked Black Ford Focus as well as the Beemer estate they have running around and there's a motorcycle cop seems to be spending lots of time hanging around between Torquay and Paignton along the coast road

They had a huge operation out by the looks yesterday down here. All I saw was a sea of day glo yellow. Doing spot checks on very nearly everything that went past.

Thank [censored] I was going the other way
