Not a lot of difference. Front nosecone/headlights are different naturally, slightly better rear shock, a few engine tweaks, different clocks etc. Take away the nosecone/headlights and there isnt a much different.

oh okay so the J just means its the new shape the changed over to in 2000 with the twin lights, so i get the letters, but what does the number mean? sorry i've been out drinking in the sun today so it's slow progess at the moment

also i'm looking to replace to front disks on G1 '98 zx6r and was wondering what disks it takes, if there are interchangable between models etc. Theres 100's on ebay going cheap, but i just want to make sure i get the right ones. Thanks for the advice 8)

The numbers usually mean a change in graphics and minor "improvements".
If you want to check the difference between a G1 and a 636 A1 then drop me a pm as I have both.
Owned the G1 from new and th other for about 4 years.
Cheers

I think the engine on the J model is compleatly different from the G model. Something about the bores, but don't quote me. I'll find out tomorrow.

As for the numbers it's a way of showing the model age and graphic change. The G1 and J1 have black on the top of the tank whereas the G2 and J2 have colour on top of the tank.

Had a G2 (and an F3 once) and was gonna get a J2 but had a good insurance payout so got the Daytona. I've always said if I could afford a trak bike I'd have a G or J ZX6 8)
