Is it a legal requirement to have mirrors on a motorbike? I have had a look at the MOT requirements and they mention that they are not all checked subject to age.
The reason I ask is that I passed a P reg Bandit today and noticed the rider in-front making more shoulder checks than usual. I had a good look at his bars and I am convinced he had no mirrors.

Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.
Many many moons ago it was not a requirement to have them but if you had 1 mirror then it had to be the right hand one. Don't think that it has changed
I have no mirrors on my (97) TL They were one of the first things to go when the fairing was "shortened" to allow the flat bars to be fitted, some 6 years ago now
You must remember though, just 'cos something is not checked during the MOT does not mean it's a legal requirment to have something ..... speedo, for example .....
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away
Most of my older bikes didnt have mirrors but i must admit though i like the mirrors on my Daytona and i can actually see things in them apart from elbows

Bam bam your runt mirrors don't count, you can't see enough.
What do you mean, all he has to do is tuck his elbow in, rest it on the tank then move a foot towards the mirror, then he can see about 4 inches of road
I like having mirrors, like to see who is/was behind me
I ran without mirrors for years until I got knicked by an unmarked police car on the motorway that I ddint realise was behind me, the only reason I ride with them is for police spotting.
In fact you dont need to legally have anything other than a number plate and a horn, you can run it in track trim if you want with no lights at all or indicators or mirrors, if your bikes more than 3 years old though you will need a daytime MOT for that get up.
under 3 years old though and s hit can the lot and in theory its good to go. My bikes is shifting to that setup at the weekend until I can be bothered to swap it back.
you have to lose it all though, add a brake light and then its got to have the whole lot.
you would be a fool to run like that if you use the bike all the time though, ok if you only wheel it out on the odd sunday for a bit of anti social riding and you ride at a decent enough pace that the people following you dont take notice of brake lights.
