Alarm Help Needed..

Post by Maver-Nick »

I returned to my bike after work this evening to find the alarm had been triggered...

Now I think it must have been going off for some time, because I get no ignition lights and the indicators aren't flashing, so I'm guessing the battery is flat...

I tried bump starting it but it appears immobilised...

I've tried all the combinations of the buttons but still it keeps going off...

So I've left it in the guildhall basement till the morning... It's still going off.

The alarm keeps going off, each time I stop it there is one beep, which according to the book means it's lost positive or negative power supply (the fuse might be blown)... Where/how do I find/change it ?

Datatool S4 Red...

Any ideas... :?

If there is a lose of power supply where does it get its power feed from the sound the alarm. I'm guessing it has a battery back up. You will have to follow the positive feed from battery to where the fuse would be located. Normally its close to battery as.

Not a great lover of alarms and the best advice i would give is get shot of it. They are a pain in the arse. If they are going to nick it they will.

My new house has an alarm and thats going soon. Stupid bleeding things.

The fuse is probably located under your seat mate. Should be a little fuse enhoused all on it's own. When you take it out your alarm may go off constantly so either put it in a mode that means you can check it or do it quickly or wear ear muffs. I'd check it's positive and negative connections also, make sure one hasn't come loose this might be either wired to the battery or wired into the loom et al.

I'm not an expert on this but it's just what I would check before I called simon

sounds about right, check the normal fuse box and then the inline fuse to the alarm, should be fed straight from the battery

Not sure about Datatools but if I don't start my bike for a while the alarm won't disarm just by pressing the fob cos the bike batt is low. So I turn ignition on and then press it and bingo. Alarms do have battery back-up else theifs could just diconect the battery to stop them going off.

If your bikes got a flat battery this could be the cause so find your battery (probably under the riders seat) and hook it up to a boost battery or car battery. Don't forget + first then -. To disconect take - off first and then +.

Or check the fuse for the alarm as aready said.

Hope this helps, good luck :D

I had exactly the same as Mike Daytona600 on my old SV. If I didn't ride it for a week or so just pressing the disarm button on the fob wouldn't do the trick. But turning the key in the ignition, ignoring the alarm sounding and then pressing the disarm button removed the alarm and immobiliser.

Took me a while to work this one out after a 6 week summer holiday away (teachers holidays are nice :)

I love my alarm, all that I use is the motion sensor, wired up to the indicators, siren and battery. Cheap as chips and is as good a deterrent as any. If it messes up, which the key fob has before when it got wet, just pop the seat off and pull the fuse. Nice and simple :)

I like alarms not just to stop robbing barstewards (if there were to R1s next to eack other and one had an alarm the other didn't which would you steal?) but also lets you know if anyone's messing about with it, like kids. Like deej says if a thief is gonna steal your bike they'll do it no matter what, but lets make it as hard as pos ay

If you do take it off NIck then make sure you tell your insurance company if you told them it's got one else could void your insurance :(

All sorted... 8)

It was the battery, it was flat as a pancake, dunno if it was 'cause the alarm had been going off all day or I 'might' of left the parking light on...

Took Bimbo's battery in this morning and she fired right up, charged mine, and we're back in business... :P
