The "V" sign is to show the enemy that you still have your two index fingers therefore you can still fire from a long bow

Apparently the enemy used to remove those two fingers thus making you unable to join the army as you were unable to fire a bow and arrow

Somehow its ended up as a common motorcycle greeting

ps

I usually Nod but its surprising how many totally ignore me I assume because I ride a Pan......but hell who cares

Cheeky wink sorta nod from me

Dont really care about the gear, but find people that dont wear the gear tend not to nod back... Always nod at 125 bike learners, used to love it when I started out lol

Yeah, i've perfected a kinda nod/wink. I keep nodding at a guy riding a harley with ape-hangers, i don't mean to either because he never acknowledges me, but it keeps happening automatically

Plus; has anyone else nodded whilst driving a cage?

I always nod at others on 2 wheels even peds :D
But I have noticed that over the last 10 years or so less bikers
tend to do it :?
But then again doing a handstand and mooning at the is time is
possibly a bit much :P

I was in my garden having a lunch barby( before watching GP) otherwise I'd have nodded at you :D . I'm always nodding, little 'jazz hands' style waves and constant catch myself nodding at bikes whilst in the car! But then maybe I'm just over excitable  .

i nod or wave if the speed isnt excessive (traffic) also take my left hand off the bar slightly for a wave or thumb up when overtaking, just do 1 or 2 nods for a large group, nod at the pleasent learners not the bellends.

think its a brilliant part of the culture, drivers never nod at each other cus their usually too busy on the phone or fiddling with their satnav :)
