THINKING OF MOVING HOUSE-ADVICE WANTED PLEASE

Post by deej »

Right guys n girls, could i be so cheeky to ask you for some information on what your local areas are like, house prices, council tax prices and utility bill pricing ( not sure if its different for different areas ).

im getting a little fed up and tired with all the mileage im doing for work, nearly 40k in 6 months so am thinking of moving from cornwall to somewhere more sensible. im looking for a reasonably quiet area in either a city or a decent sized town or preferably a quiet village but it needs to be either close to the m5 or the a303 preferably the m5 for all the trips to wales im doing as thats where the majority of my business is

what areas would you recommend and why? i have a budget for the house of £175k but would prefer cheaper if possible, needs to be 3 bedrooms minimum and have the most important room for any house, thats right a garage.8) would i be able to buy a property in this range in your areas? would prefer to sell up and move but a different option would be renting a house to live in and renting my house out in case the move doesnt work for some reason.

i am thinking of taunton/bridgwater as im guessing exeter would be too expensive, correct ?

so if you dont mind bearing your souls on what your living in and how much your tax's and bills are that would be great, just to help its only me and the wife,so dont have any kids if that affects your monthly spend

thanks in advance

Some parts of Taunton are very nice and not ridiculously expensive, I nearly bought a two bedroom house with garden, drive & garage in Bishops Hull for £154000 last year. It was nice but needed a little tlc, mainly redecorating. It was Council tax band C, you can find out what the charges are for any individual house on the Taunton Deane website.

Some of the out lying villages are also very nice, grab a copy of the Somerset County Gazette which comes out on Thursdays, lots of houses advertised in there, that's where I found the house I have now.

I was gonna suggest the Crediton/Wellington area. benefits of reasonable towns adjacent, but still fairly rural too. Prices aren't too silly either. Exeter is nice, but bloody stupid price-wise

Newton Abbot's not quite as far up, but you could get what you want for that money round here. Where I am is 10mins from the A38 (Trago Mills/Bovey Tracey junction). From my house it takes about 20 mins to get to Exeter airport. Plenty of rental places here - and tbh that's probably your best bet for a while until you're sure it's the right area for you (as long as you can rent your place out for what you want).
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely

Sorry, I actually meant Cullompton    therefore implying the gap between the two such as Uffculme, or towards places like Sampford Peverell or even Tiverton

You may already have found or know about such websites, but the following may help you with area house prices.

With this one put in the area you're interested in, zoom in, click property prices & it'll reveal all the property's sold in that area. You just click on the house icon & it'll come up with the price that property was last sold for:-
http://www.aboutmyplace.co.uk/showmap?i ... 5407823509

This one is similar:-
http://www.nethouseprices.com/index.php ... use-Prices

This one gives you info on when a property's asking price has been amended & by how much:-
http://www.propertysnake.co.uk/

Hope that may be of use to you.
