Short term insurance?

Post by mattr6 »

Anybody ever had short term insurance?

Due to be going to Magny-cors for the WSB in October. Was going to be going on my R6 but the people I'm going with (my Dad and his mate) have extended it to going down the South of France for a bit. I don't fancy taking the R6 this far (lack of comfort /luggage, and don't want to push the miles on too much)

So he says I can take his 1200GS. I'm insured to ride any other bike (not belonging to me)on my policy, but thats only third party only. I would like to put this up to fully comp for the time abroad.

Sorry if it sounds a bit complex but does anyone know if its possible/ or has done it.

I'll try my insurance first. Hopefully they'll play ball and sort something out.

Dunno what it's like nowadays, but you may have difficulty insuring a motorcycle you don't actually own (and not rented under a hire/HP agreement) especially if taking it abroad .... it might be cheaper/easier for him to add you as a named rider on his policy - but once again they might take issue at insuring both bikes abroad at the same time :?

Best thing would be to phone a few places and see what they say :D

Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away
