The Induced Funky

Post by webster »

The Induced Funky - when a cyclist pulls out on front of you from a junction, leaving you enough time to panic brake and brown your trowsers before colliding, leaving you with a broken wrist that is going to need surgery.

Not amused :(

Bike is rideable, just not by me at the moment, think i'll streetfighter it as it'll be cheaper, because cyclists don't have insurance.

Ahh man that sucks - especaially as you havnt been riding that long either !

I would defiantly go down the route of had an accident that wasnt your fault. If you ask me cyclists that use teh road should have to pay tax and have insurance just like the rest of us !!

Not all cyclists are muppets thanks. I ride a motorbike and a bicycle and i pay attention to what other road users are doing. But yes insurance might be a good idea but then would you also enforce pedestrians to have insurance? Maybe people should just insure themselves against everything for a million pounds a year.

In fairness if you ever see adult cyclists on the road 8/10 are in the wrong lane, dont look, dont stop for red lights, swerve in and out of the traffic and blame everybody else when they get hurt.

Why should they not have to be insured for damage caused as a direct result of their actions

pedestrians don't generally wander in the street at rush hour. i also cycle, the difference is i'm not retarded and i use the perfectly good cycle lane that's less than 6 feet away! so you think it's perfectly reasonable for somone to have caused me a massive amount of pain, damaged my bike, helmet and trousers and for me to have to bear the whole cost because for some reason they're allowed to use public highways with no form of insurance? this is not a rhetorical question, i would like an answer and an explaination.

I have to comment here becuase i drive on the road 10 hours a day and the majority of cyclists are fine like with every kind of road transport but you do get the ones that creep up the inside of your truck when your sat at a crossroads indicating left, the lights go green you set off left and the fooking cyclist goes straight on and you just miss him. One of the lads at work actually hit one of the idiots who did this and chewed his bike up under a 26 tonne truck, the bloke was lucky to get out alive and to my mind was in the wrong. The police on the other hand thought differently and he was taken to court and fined for not using due care even though the cyclist wasnt in a cycle lane, not wearin high vis and obviously not indicating. the other usual scenario is you come across the racing kitted cyclists in a group who will not go single file to allow cars past so you get a traffic jam behind them on narrower A roads as people have to filter past. this lot really pee me off and on more than one occasion i go past anyway, as close as i can forcing them in........

As for the road tax thing, i totally agree, if you use the road then you pay, cant quite see how pedestrians come into it though Banditmax as they use the footpaths not the roads, but then some cyclists seem to think theres no difference between a road and a footpath anyway..........

i cycle on the pavements, its those dodgey road users you want to look out for :P

Have you looked into getting a bit help for the motor insurers bereau? im told they help out in spots like this when you've had an accident and its someone elses fault but who cant foot the bill, like uninsured drivers.
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it

Sorry to hear that mate. Sometimes you can claim on their motor or house insurance... might be worth trying because you're a third party.
