I'm just glad you'll be restricted to 33bhp being 17... so there goes the fast and loud part...
More like slow and asthmatic.

Im sure a lot of us want one/rode one/have one already![]()
He didnt mention anything about wanting to ride like a tw@t and to be honest going from a learner bike,50 or 125,to a 'big' bike is always gonna be a big step, but im sure he has enough common sense to take it easy![]()
Prove me right tom

Re: Can someone sell me a bike? :D
Its right in a way, I get quite a lot of interest (from the lads
) at college about how old are you how fast does it go, do a wheelie blah blah, and its quite easy to start showing off.
When I first got mine, opened it up on cold tyres trying to impress a group of people and spun the back wheel up, not in the good way, And nearly decked it, only saved it by putting my feet down and pushing myself back upright at about 15mph
Now I know if I had gone straight for a 100bhp sports bike, I doubt I would of had the self control to ride it.
If you think you have then go for it mate.
Remember though, fairings smash easy and are expensive.

It just might be a good idea to drag your head outta the Xbox and get to grips with reality, cause if you think you're gonna get a full ticket in 3 weeks time with the attitude you've got towards biking then the examiner will fail you as too much of a body bag candidate....18 bikers lost there lives in the South West last year so grow up before you become a statistic.
Re: Can someone sell me a bike? :D
If I could choose my bikes again. I would have got an nsr125r. They have about 33bhp and are light an nimble. They handle well too.
Even with 33bhp you can get into trouble. I have had the back end of the sv come out on me several times when pulling out of junctions when it was restricted. These things you pickup over time (I am told.)

Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.

if your planning on spending about 2k on a sports 600, at 17 having just passed your test. I will be amazed if you can find insurance for under a grand. Have you looked into it, you might find a 400 the best option just for financial reasons.
Alot of of people on these sort of issues come off as holier than thou safety nazi's, and so while its not usually the most convincing perspective because it doesn't come across approachable, it is genuinely for your best interest. As i bet more than a couple of people here have been in hospital or worst going to hospital with your mates.

its not that people want to have a go, it's just that this sort of mentality rings alarm bells. Not because you will crash, but it just increases the chances. No one likes hearing of fellow biker getting himself in a pickle. So while people might not say it in the nicest way, its because they're doing what they think is best and harsher words usually make a more lasting impression. In that time we'd been caught no hands..tinted visors.. small reg plates.. cut down L plates..racing cans..speeding
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it

All everyone is saying is that we don't want to be posting up another Biker RIP thread with your name on it.
Bikes of all sizes are bloody dangerous and no matter how good you think you are one lapse in concentration will have you in the hedge.
Forget about fast, loud, or image. Buy a bike that suits your built/hight and you like to ride. Most modern bikes will beat cars at the trafic light grand prix and they will all put a massive smile on your face cos thats what biking is about. Not big, loud and ending up in a hedge.
Most of us on here have done the crashing stuff and are lucky enough to get away with it to become older gits,
Bikes demand a lot of respect but they give a lot of pleasure in return.

Re: Can someone sell me a bike? :D
i went straight from doing my test on a 125 to getting my 600CBR. 3moths later i ended up in a hedge with broken ribs and a completely trashed bike!
in hindsight, i wish i'd have gone for the 400 just to get used to the power(even though my CBR is restricted!)
it took a lot of time, money and effort(and some really nice chaps on here) to rebuild the bike, but took a hell of a lot longer to rebuild my confidence.
just be careful on what ever you decide to get

Most people have covered it all but what the licence doesnt give you is experience and thats what counts in the real world, just knowing when to ease off that few miles an hour to get you safely round a corner or knowing just how much room you need to overtake and get back in safely, a young lad up our street with a nice vfr400 just had an off with one of my neighbours kids on, passing a queue of cars a little to quick to call it filtering he came across a traffic island in the middle of the road and tried to squeeze between a transit van and the island, it didnt work and he has now got to spend a few hundred quid getting it sorted again, experience would probably have to told him to hang back a bit till past the island, but good luck and take it easy if you do pass

As the old saying goes "with greater bhp comes great responsibility", so treat your first big bike with the respect it deserves, take it easy and just enjoy yourself!
Bikeless again :/
