Sorry to hear that mate. Sometimes you can claim on their motor or house insurance... might be worth trying because you're a third party.

They'll have Third Party Liability insurance under their home contents insurance (assuming they have home contents insurance) if they're a student with 'student effects' insurance - same applies.

Otherwise there's the Motorist Insurance Bureau who'll deal with a case like this, presume you have legal expenses insurance on your own bike policy? get them involved now, otherwise see if your own solicitor will deal with it on a conditional fee basis.

Either way, speak to a proper solicitor ASAP.

i went into hospital again in tuesday for the operation, nobody's told me any different so i assume it went well, hurts like hell though, but then adding a bit of metal to your bone structure would.

I wasn't too keen on the idea of suing etc. it sounded far to american and litigious, but there's something about laying in a hospital bed at 3am in so much pain not even morphine can help that can change your mind. i've never broken a bone before and the last time i had an operation was when i was too young to remember so i had no idea what to expect. don't think i wanna let her get away with this anymore.

at least cover the cost of the bike, time off, pain, more pain, scars, leathers, missed pub time, irregular tan lines etc etc etc

I'm going to do my best, rang the MIB, (motor insurers bureau, not men in black) and they can't help in cases like this, only with collisions with other vehicles. i've got my insurance company involved but they have said that because the claim is against an individual it can take some time and may be difficult

had my cast taken off today, feels very odd, got sod all movement in the wrist, bloody hurts too

went by speed after to have a speculative look, help me decide whether to fix my bike or break it for parts and get a new one, sat on a gsxr750 as i've always fancied one, and quickly found out i can't support my weight on my wrist yet, got an odd look as i gave out a little yelp. but with any luck i'll get the movement back sooner rather than later and the pain should ease off in a week or 2.

Have you had another recent scan of your wrist mate? I'd be a bit concerned if it's that weak still.

Ah right, i thought from the sound of it that the bone hadn't healed. Take it easy with it mate, don't go overdoing it, just rest the bugger and w@nking does not class as physiotherapy! The hairy arm is due to a lack of rubbing because the cast protects the hairs.

Were you sent to see a physio about your wrist? They will be able to give you exercises to help build up the movement again and get the muscles toned back up. Not using your wrist for four weeks will have made all the muscles weak. I found the same problem after having my thumb bandaged up for 6 weeks.

yeah, got a bunch of different exercises to do, my arm looks so much smaller than it did, it's weird. movement is a little better already though, so hopefully once it stops hurting i'll be able to get it back even faster.
