learner off mud on road!

Post by kawasakiz »

we were travelling back from Bude to Hatherleigh on saturday, early evening, when about a mile or so from Hatherleigh on a sharp bend we saw a bike on the side of the road and a Biker knelt down beside it. I pulled up and put the Hazards on, got out of the Van to make sure he was ok. Some stupid women came whizing round the corner and nearly hit me, so i shouted some abuse at her. Anyway the lad was ok, his Bike rather bent and damaged. He had come round the corner skidded on some shite (left on the road by a tractor) hit the bank and slid across the road onto the other bank. After 5 mins his brother turned up and we put the Bike in the Van (i was in our white Transit Van ) and took him home. I think the lads name was Darrel. He was riding a Honda 125 on L plates and after having his bike serviced he had only got his bike back and this was the second time out on it. And only a mile or so from home. He was wearing all the correct gear ( Boots Trousers Jacket Gloves etc) which probably saved him. I hope he is ok! does anyone know who he is. The roads around that area are a bloody mess! tractor shite everywhere. I know they have a job to do but at least they could put a mud on road sign up, some do, but not at this place! anyone out in this area should be aware!

tractors etc putting crap on the road is a nightmare. On my way to work i pass a couple of Liveries and the amount of crap those horses put on the road is a joke! How come we have to clean up after dogs, but if a horse does a big pooh in the middle of the road no one bats an eyelid? Also if they're going to use the roads they should have to pay!

Walking pedigree chum if you ask me.

Oh ye, glad the lad is ok.

Glad he is ok, good old south west roads and ignorant farmers!

Yesterday as well as the normal mud and rocks on the summercourt bends I had a potato (yup, a potato) and a bundle of rope to dodge!

Have a look at these links. The farmer has a legal responsibility to sign the hazard correctly & clean up periodically throughout the day & again at the end of each working day.

this is my first year of bike riding an i'm starting to see the effects of the winter on the roads. me and three other of my mates have fallen off in the past month. not badly. but just sliding round due to mud, leaves diesel adn the wet etc. we're being more cautious now but is a pain.

i was on the way to college with my best mate today and he came off at about 10-15mph in tescos car park in exeter. i did in the same spot a couple weeks before. turns out the road was so slippy their he had trouble standing back up because of the oil!!

last week he also fell off at no more than 20 near his house in farringdon because of some mud and leaves! Its all a big learning curve though and nobody has been hurt. just a good job it wasnt infront of a lorry on the fast roads. glad to hear the guy's alrite though..my boots saved my ankles when i came off. Wont go without em now :D:D
