Re: Unmarked police Bike
I was thinking abou this earlier. If you do see another bike do you tend to have a lil play? Personally I think it's like a red rag!

I think most would Funky, I`ve not been riding long enough to comment on the bike side of things. But from previous cars i`ve owned if someone is obviously up for a bit of speed you go for it. Maybe a natural reaction?

Re: Unmarked police Bike
Well, after sitting and watching the whole video right through, I thought in a large percentage of the clip the video bike was actually riding far more irresponsibly than the bike being followed, especially considering he was apparently completely un-marked therefore "just another biker"
On several occasions he actually forced other vehicles to alter their path to avoid a collision and whilst the first rider was no angel, the second overtook in far riskier situations just to keep up
The ony time 140 was recorded, the lead bike was nowhere in sight because the video bike had been dropped at a roundabout .....
I reckon, that if he's honest, the "red mist" had descended on the police biker and his ego wasn't prepared to be bested by a mere "normal" biker (especially one riding an R1
) ...... he was enjoying himself as much as anything .....
I thought a whole lot of risk assessments had to take place when embarking on such pursuits, and re-evaluated constantly as the pursuit proceeds - I'd love to see the assessment criteria used to allow that pursuit to continue as long as it did

if its new and looks a bit odd stay clear off it,if its older it will be too old to be a police vehicle so you should be ok. one other thing to watch out for is unmarked cars with private plates, years ago i got pulled over at amesbury by a traffic cop in a unmarked octavia vrs which had a private plate ending in vrs.

On cars I always look for extra or extra long aerials also look at the driver as I pass to see if they have a uniform on!

Yes my RD250 was quick in those days, acceleration to 60 the same as the porsche 911 of the time. bout 8 secs no radar then, very few fast cars around mostly 1300 escorts the panda cars then,Funky wrote:Brilliant!Mervin wrote: i replied you lot cannot catch me, i have come to renew my shotgun certificate actually

Personally if I see anything keeping up with me, I'll slow right down, then when it passes me if it aint a cop its fair game innit

But thats exactly the point, from what has been said there was absolutely nothing to identify this bike/rider as a copper - it was a bog standard fireblade and a rider in "normal" riding gear ........ you would have let him past, thought "fair game" and 10 miles down the road been pulled over by a marked car and been resoundly rogered
I would have thought it closely verging on entrapment ........
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

thats my sentiments too, especially if they pass you and then slow down seemingly looking to play..TLS-Moose wrote:Cheese Monkey wrote:Personally if I see anything keeping up with me, I'll slow right down, then when it passes me if it aint a cop its fair game innit

i remember coming from London on the motorway I saw an audi in my mirrors thundering up towards me and me thinking it could be coppers, so I pulled into the inside lane and slowed down. The car did the same 1 car behind me and followed me down a turn off upto a roundabout. Luckily there was traffic there so I could filter through then pull off to go down the A2. Was highly suspicious though.
