Thats what happens when the owner doesn't have time for his own site. And there is no point dedicating time if hardly anyone uses it, if I was dave, I would seriously consider shutting it down.

Out of all the sites I have used, only 1 has been worth paying for...and I even donated £200 to the italiansportsbikeclub.com

This site isn't worth joining even if the membership was free.
But you own a ducati! the £200 are your payments for breakdown cover.
do you get a fee squirrel to run behind and pick up all the nuts that fall off for ya £200
merv
Funny seeing I rode the 1098..............S round Europe and didn't have 1 bolt fall out or 1 problem...started everytime and the bike was on the road for 5 hours a day atleast....

and servicing costs only a lil bit more than normal IL4 services....

Early models yes,916 era and early 999s..but 848/1098...no chance....

Do keep up with the times gents.

The actual lifetime membership was for the 1st 10 who joined the site matey.
Honouring the 1st ten members

It was agreed that if the first initial ten members who joined the site who were still active, they would keep their lifetime free membership.

Key word is *active* I wouldnt call someone who last posted 2 years ago active. Apart from Daves 4 accounts and Speedy, I am the first active member. So please feel free to update me to full member.

No the key words are

1st ten members who joined the site

So dont think so.

You obviously didnt read the quote above correctly

You were not even close to the 1st initial ten that joined.

How about looking at the phrasing in a slightly different way ...... "the first ten members of the site were granted lifetime membership. Those still actively posting are entitled to keep their free membership"

So you are telling me that these people get lifetime free membership:
1. Dave - Sun Feb 29, 2004 5:11 pm Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:17 pm
2. ::WeBmAsTeR:: - Sun Feb 29, 2004 6:38 pm Wed Jan 03, 2007 6:00 pm
3. ZX6R 232 - Sun Feb 29, 2004 7:10 pm Tue Dec 09, 2008 7:41 pm
4. moorsy - Mon Mar 01, 2004 10:52 pm Thu Mar 11, 2004 10:03 pm
5. 2fast4u 2 - Tue Mar 02, 2004 12:08 am Wed Aug 11, 2004 6:57 am
6. AquaMan - 149Tue Mar 02, 2004 1:39 pm Tue Feb 07, 2006 2:43 pm
7. Cam - Tue Mar 02, 2004 6:24 pm Tue Jan 03, 2006 2:58 pm
8. D4NPH - Tue Mar 02, 2004 9:24 pm Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:58 pm
9. speedy(delboy) - Tue Mar 02, 2004 11:02 pm Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:31 am
10. p5yco - Wed Mar 03, 2004 1:35 am Fri Mar 12, 2004 1:08 am
So we have Dave and Dave 2 who owns the site.... ZX6R who is a moderator... you who is an admin and 6 other people who have not posted in about 2 years?

Firstly I thought admins/mods got free membership anyway?
Why give free membership to people who have not posted for so long?

Shouldn't free membership go to the people who have actually been part of the site since the beginning-ish not some person who signed up 4 years ago and has barely posted. I would not class someone who hasnt even logged-in in 2 years as 'Active'

Thats why its states WITCH ARE STILL ACTIVE, which is what Dave promised when the site opened, and in plain english, there are only 3 of us. AND IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT BEST SPEAK TO THE SITE OWNER.

Oh and can you explain to everyone why you should get free membership and they dont :?: :?:

Just a thought, why not bin the free membership idea for everyone except for admins etc as it seems to be causing a little unrest, just a thought...... :?

I think we should get rid of membership full stop and go for donations towards the running on the site like :

 Donate a £1 at a Pub Meet ( 10 people 10 Pub Meets a year = £100)
 Every 3 months have a Pub Quiz £2 each to play then the money get splits to the winner and the site
 Donate money at the Friendly Rides (As these are really well organised)

These are only a few ways but Membership has always caused arguments and disagreements ie Trackdays, Karting whats accessed on the site

I was just about to send off my £10 membership cause i thought this site had just settled down nicely and a few of us from bath and bristol had managed to hook up and seemed good .But this membership thing seems to have bought all the arguing back to the surface and all over 10 quid sad very sad just shows why bikers always get a bad deal cause we are always to busy arguing with ourselves

The LIFE TIME FREE MEMBERSHIP was for the first 10 registered users.

So that is LIFE TIME so you need to prove that all 36 people that joined before you Dynamight are DEAD !

If you had free membership and we removed it because you stopped posting for a long period of time and when you came back to this site you found out that the LIFETIME FREE MEMBERSHIP had been revoked would you be happy ? I think not.

I think some people need to take a chill pill, this is a great site and could be even better if people would stop moaning.

Post constructive Ideas that can help us improve the site.

LOUD NOISES!

i think dynasangel is on the right track, any/all of her ideas would be a way forward

i dont really see what the big deal is, pretty much the same thing happens at this time every year. In winter when some bikers go into hibernation, the site traffic reduces slightly and so people begin doom-mongering and getting nostalgic about the 'good ole days', then summer comes round and the traffic picks up and everyone's happy again. happens every year

the site is great and as long as no cataclysmic changes are made it will continue being great.
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it
