My mate got caught doin 44 in a 30 he was offered a speed awareness course at a cost of £74. I think it depends on if you have been caught before, not sure about phoning up and asking but it would be worth a try. Easy revenue for them. I was listening to the local radio the other day they caught 25 people in one hour £60 each £1500 an hour. Not bad money for them one car driver was caught doin 52! in a 30 anyone can make a quick slip on the throtle but I dont know what would be a fair margin of error

Got a tug on the M5 near tiverton, did the course in Exeter

Cost me £80 + Fuel to Exeter + day off work.

It's not a course it's a sermon but it keeps 3 points off your licence.
K7 1000 and still in blue and white, the fast colours.

Got one in Taunton.
38 IN A 30 at 3am with not a sod about.
Got offered the Speedsafe thing but awarded it a testicles.
I'd rather have the points than be treated like a criminal in need of re-habilitation.
If you have a clean license, the first three points don't handicap you anyway.
Insurers only start loading your policy from six.

It depends on your insurance company as to how many points they start taking notice at, i was with Churchill when i got clocked at 98.8mph and got 6 points and the girl on the phone said not to worry, if you get 3 we count it as unlucky, if you get 6 you could just be really unlucky so we give you the benefit of the doubt especially if you have no accidents on your account, the copper couldnt understand why i was smiling when he gave me the ticket, might have been because only 30 seconds before i was clocked i was doing around the 130 mark but that was some years ago :) :) :)

Well... got the photo's and had to agree it was me in my 'Gixxer Leathers' wearing my 'Bulldog' skid lid...

Anyhow, got a letter back today, and it seems that early reports were all wrong... :?

You do get offered a 'Speed awareness course' for more than 4mph over the limit (I was 9)

So I'm gonna take it at Westpoint for £75 and save the points... (not many left... )

I read recently its down to whoever runs the cameras sets the percentage over the limit its not a government 10% policy or anything like that, they can be set at 31 if outside a school or suchlike...........

Another thing I just noticed...

This course is registered on the police data base for 3 years, just like getting points then really...

I s'pose it's so you can't say you haven't done one and ask for another next time.

Or if you get pulled again for a similar offence the sentence/penalty will be greater as they will consider you didn't heed the advise/lecture given on the course
