Re: Bike accident a few weeks ago.. Me :(
Update on the accident itself.. I had witness statements though the post and it would suggest that I got in hit in the visor by a bird!! The VFR was completely destroyed.. twisted frame, destroyed swingarm, forks, engine casings and all fairings..
I still have no memory!!

Glad you're back on 2 wheels, probably find a naked bike more fun on the roads around here.

You have m heartfelt sympathy
I had exactly the same thing happen to me some years ago.
I came around in A&E with an oxygen mask on, a neckbrace and two nurses cutting off my trousers.
I did not have a clue what had happened.
Luckily I had no less than 8 witnesses who saw the driver on the other side of the road overtake and hit me head on.
He was off the scale drunk, I later found out.
The strange thing was that apparently I had not lost consciousness.
The two paramedics that attended me said I was chatting away like a goodun, but I do not remember.
I was luckier than you in that I was not hurt too badly and only suffered bruising and a nasty open wound in my leg.
I think the hardest thing is the not remembering.
I'm sure if I had a vivid memory of the accident it would have been easoer to come to terms with, but it's the not knowing that shhok me up more.
The nurse told me this is quite comon and is the brains way of self defence.
The memories are there, but they have been shut away in a place that is difficult for the brain to access.
I was told I might get flashbacks but I never did.
If ever you want to talk about it just give me a shout.

Good to hear you're making progress Lee.
Fortunately (?) when I had a similar experience re. Waking up in hospital it was after a car crash rather than the bike Strange experience!
Personally I am grateful I don't remember any of it.... The only thing I have found some 25years on is I have a very fragile memory of anything before that date, and it's pretty poor to this day...(At least thats my excuse & I'm sticking to it!)

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

The thing about remembering an accident, is that you can piece the events together and maybe even formulate a plan for avoiding it next time.
I had a lot of trouble getting back on a bike after my last accident, exactly because I could not remember any of it.
I had one 10 years before that was a hell of a lot worse, but I couldn't wait to get back on a bike.
Basically, I T-boned a car that had pulled across my path. He was doing a u turn.
Not technically my fault, but maybe, just maybe if I hadn't have been pulling away from the lights so hard........etc.
The most important things (apart from your life and health), you can take away from any sort of rtc are lessons - something you cannot do if you have no memory of the events.

Ah, well thats easy in my case - don't drive too fast around a blind corner, try and brake before you hit the tree
