Driving whilst on mobile phone!

Post by ZXR400Lee »

Whilst driving through town today some bloke pulled out infront of me in a green BMW convertible, roof down, and on his mobile phone clearly in a world of his own.. so after following him for about 200 yards shouting at him to put his phone down.. plently of f words! he then pulls to one side so I can speak to him.. more f words.. he puts the phone down and then pulls out again trying to swipe me off the bike!! I was on the way back to work otherwise I would have followed him and given him more than words!!

Winds me up so much.. having a BMW is nice, I'd love one, but just because you own one doesnt mean you can stereotype yourself to be a [idiot]!

Can you even report these people, as I got his registration plate, car model, and full drivers description?

do it phone the police and emphasise he was on the phone and then drove in a dangerous manner deliberately trying to push you off the bike, at least if he does it too some one sees you and starts acting stupid again it is on record

There were alot of people around, town quite busy today.. I'm sure me shouting at the top of my voice "[idiot] In Green BMW" maybe embarresed him enough to pull over.. but didnt think he liked me continuing on after he stopped.. so frustrating for me.. after the police blamed me for my accident.. without any evidence, then come to find out later it was a freak accident really beyond anyones control.. when accidents happen bikes are usually first to blame!

Thats what makes me totally pig sick, its bad enough you see white van man driving on the mobile cause he cant afford to spend £10 on headset but some twat in a BMW that probably has a fully fitted car kit as standard with the car but the upper class tosser probably don't even know how to connect it.

Sorry this is my one vice, i spend a fortune every year on hands free and ensure anyone that drives in the company is offered the kit FOC to ensure they don't have to drive illegally and the ones that obviously can afford it don't bother :(

Shame it wasn't witnessed by an unmarked unit, then he really would have been the idiot in the Green BMW lol

Report him. Yeh nothing may happen and there may be a bit of come back for you shouting him but if he gets pulled one day it might come up. I don't know but you never know.

Good drivers and Bad drivers..... Observant and considerate road users, and blind-as-a-bat inconsiderate roadusers.... what you are driving or indeed riding becomes irrelevant!

Sorry to hear about your BMW Bad driver experience, but thats a very big brush to tar EVERYONE with :!:

Where I live, the biggest hazzard are the elderly - not the most observant or manoueverable of drivers who park with sheer abandonment (should that read literally?) To be found in their Yaris's Clio's and Fabia's peering over the wheel....

But that said, a couple of bikes on Sunday I spotted who wheelied past a row of cars all doing the 30 limit, you could hardly say were 'considerate'! (R1 + Gixxer)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that bad drivers (fones, speed, inconsideration or anything else..) are not simply one group ie. BMW's, but sadly found in all guises age groups, types of car/van/truck blah blah If it were the case, they'd be easy to spot and as bikers we'd be safer out there??

:D

Saw this hapen a few years ago in London. :D
Following a despatch rider down the road behind a blonde in an XR3 convertible. She was all over the road blissfully chatting away on her phone.
Traffic slowed right down to a crawl for someone doing a right turn & the despatcher just rode quietly up beside her, grabbed the phone off her, opened the throttle & threw the phone up in the air. Blooming brilliant :D

I do alot of miles in my works van and see many things, many many bad car drivers and quite a few ignorant bikers who dont indicate, bully car's or just dont thank etc.

Anyway a year or so ago i was just pulling out of a building site up by staddiscombe, anyway coming down the road was a blonde hair girl with a pink bike jacket on, no gloves and riding a little 50 scooter which at first other than gloves nothing untoward but as she approached me i noticed she wasn't really paying any attention to the road as she passed the front of my van i could see why............phone in left hand and writing a text message!!!!!
