What should I do??

Post by Mike Daytona600 »

As you may know I'm trying to sell my 250 scooter but it's not shifting. It's on ebay but no calls.

What do I do drop the price AGAIN or leave it until better times?

I paid £1000 for it and have done a service, put on 2 tyres and a drive belt in the time I've had it (about 3000km). It's up for £899 with just under 12 months MOT.

i'd drop it to sell it mike

its a funny sized engine as its no use to people on a cbt who want to use it for a commute to work and your location is miles from a city where it would make sense as a good commuter

one thing thats always helped me sell my bikes is that im prepared to deliver to bristol as the southwest always puts people off, once i say i'll meet them at avonmouth/cribbs then theyre happy to bid/buy

Mike
when i sold the SLR recently i put too 10 day auction starting at 99p and set a high reserve, bidding started quickly then dropped off then on day 5 or 6 i dropped the reserve to what i originally wanted and the auction page said the seller has lowered the reserve which started another surge of interest

Same old story reaaly.

If you need the cash then drop the price and offer more delivery / meet up options as deej says. If you can afford for it to be in the garage for a while until the market picks up then this may be a better option.

I my experience ebayers think they can get the price down when they arrive to pick up even when they have bid higher to win the auction. I find a polite f*ck off does the trick!

Mike, another big put off for eBayers is your Zero Feedback mate.

I know it sounds unfair, but thats the way it works.

Know anyone with very high, very good feedback who could advertise it for you.

I have 812 with 100%

it makes hell of a difference especially if asking top money for something that has a small audience

Its a crap time to sell but a good time to buy as money is tight as we all know so it all depends on how desperate you are to sell it, i think it will be hard to shift because anyone youngish will want a motorbike to commute not a scooter so your target audience really is someone who has a bike licence allready and uses a car for work and maybe wants to cut their travelling costs so its got to be cheap enough to tempt them out of their nice warm car onto your scooter.....

First thing to do is find the same bike on Ebay by searching. Once you have found the same or similar scooter, mileage condition etc, look in the left hand menu for 'completed listings'. This will give you a realistic idea of the price the scooters are selling for (this is the real market value). If the price is less than you really would let it go for, you are stuck. If you are happy to get a similar price as previous ones have sold for, put it in for a 5 Day 'Auction' starting at 99p. Remember high quality supersize photo's of all the bike will really help. Make sure it is super clean and polished and photograped in sunny conditions. No reserve.....hold your breath.

Tony
