3 Bikers Down

Post by Banditmax »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/8108583.stm full story here. The road has been modified there once to try and make the junction safer. But after driving past it today I can see just how blind it still is down there, if a cars stopped waiting to go into the junction you wouldn't see it till very late. And If you get on it after the corner they mention in the article i could see how it would be very hard to slow down enough for a car stopped in the road by the time you saw it there must be a good 200 yards of straight after the corner before the junction.

I know the guy involved. Usually I would have been out with them but I had a rideout planned today so didn't go last night.

It doesn't actually say exactly where it happened. If its where I think it is (and where you say it is), its a very blind junction. I've heard some stories about what happened but nothing official.

It was the junction where you can turn off to the golf club to the left (as your going up) just before the brow of the hill on bursdon moor if you know where that is. Police incident signs up asking for information so they must want more details from someone i assume. That junction definately isn't much safer even though they have changed it recently. Car wouldv'e been just where the white one is on googlemaps here, picture doesnt show the extent of the drop in the hill there though. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?source=ig ... 6&t=k&z=18

Well i reckon they made the road more dangerous the moved the junction down over the brow of the hill, it is amazing this has not happened before, having ridden /driven thatorad for years i was surprised at the junction being changed for the worse actually
