Go to the bike insurer... get lowest quote... call them... then haggle...

Leroy and I always say 'how much will you knock off if I stop searching and pay with you now?' or 'Round it down to the nearest hundred and I'll take it'

Generally saves another £75 or so off of the already lowest quote... :P

OK then, I'll do the boring b'stard bit ......... the ZXR400 is a pretty quick little bike, and yes, you're gonna make some money on it and get a bigger bike for only a few quid more, but at the end of the day you are also gonna be spending the value of the 400 again just for insurance ....... wouldn't you really be better off keeping the 400 until you have some NCB then upgrading :?

That way you have the double whammy of one years NCB plus a years riding experience ..... and you can enjoy your summer by ragging the 400 everywhere and spending the insurance money saved on tyres, petrol, beer & wimmin
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away

Well said moosey, was thinking the same things but remembered what I was like at his age

I took the sensible option and kept my vfr400 and spent the rest on beer, women, kebabs and foreign holidays

I've been mith MCE for about 11 months. I rang them yestereday and asked when I would get my NCB but they said because my insurance on my 50cc was in the 'moped and scooter' catogery.. and then in Febuary this year i changed my insurance with MCE to me 400 and that was in the 'motorcycle' category i've effectively cancelled my policy with them and re-started it on my 400. So I am now 4 months into acheiving my 1 year NCB.  So I'm gonna afford this 6r and insurance and ride it until I have 1 year NCB atleast.

..rang MCE. They've said I can get 50% of my oaid insurance back with a £30 cancelation charge. They've refused to insure me the th6r because I don't have a year NCB. I told them about the quote with Motorcycle Direct (£179 dposit, £80 a month) and they have put it forward to see if they can match the price and i so they're gonna let me know. But for now I'm gonna keep fishing around for better quotes and see if I can get any lower! The qoute with Motorcycle Direct is managable at the moment, especially if I can get 50% back, but obviously would preffer lower!..

Motorcycle Direct it is!

Rang em up..

Initial deposit £189.03

x 9 months £89 a month

Legal cover £23 for up to £100 000

£36 for breakdown cover form house and anywhere else.. also pickup from scene of accident etc.

.. I can get atleast £200 back from MCE to pay for my initial deposit on the new policy and I'm away. Just need to shift the ZXR :x ..

Thanks for your help guys, for once I've actually saved myself some money through one of my threads
