Firstly hello - many of you know me already from bikes years back on the forums and many others from purchasing Mega-Ride photos off my company for the last couple of years.
I have a couple of commissions at the moment to get photos of bikes/cars for a national news agency but they have to be seriously showy (but that does not mean specially performance wise).
Basically if your bike is the sort of thing that could be seen in Street Fighters, Fast Bikes, Superbikes, Banzai, Fast Cars, Max Power and the like... They need to be spotless and ideally a bit different, modified, extra shiny etc. but sports, custom, cruiser whatever style of bike.
Some photos will be outside and in garage/industrial locations but one of our studios has a large ground floor entry also that means you can come in straight off the street in Plymouth for some studio controlled images too.
You will be required to sign a property release of the images to Dartmoor Studios Photography Ltd but in exchange for your time we will provide you with a nice big professional print of an image of your choice from the shoot. Also don't worry as its about the bikes so you don't need to be in the photos.
Luckily for me this does mean that I am currently in the process of getting hold of new Harley V-Rod Muscle that's justified as a prop!
If you would be happy for your bike to be considered then please get in touch with me via pm, info@dartmoorstudios.com or 0800 6126 407.
Also if you rode the Mega-Ride this year have a look at the Gallery @ http://www.dartmoorstudios.com and the Blog @ http://www.dartmoorstudios.com/blog for thumbnails to see if you can find yourself.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from some of you soon hopefully as this assignment needs to be finished by the end of the Summer ideally.
Ross.

A fair point but forums like this seem the obvious place to get to try to find the sort of potential bikes I am after, if the advert for the Mega-Ride was too blatant for you then apologies but it was only to add some credibility to the offer.Funky wrote:most people introduce themselves in the introductions section first before advertising their business...
If admin would like to remove this thread then that is fine.

Re: Is your bike a Show Bike? Please read about this opportunity
2 of my own personal bikes have been featured in Streetfighters magazine, both have also been shown on the Streetfighters Custom extreme stand at the NEC bikeshow, a third bike of mine is going to be photographed for Streetfighters over the next month or so, and another couple that I've been building for customers will also be featured once they are completed and will no doubt be on the stand at the NEC later this year. Why would I want to let you photgraph my bikes and then sign over the rights to the pictures to you? What am I getting out of it all, other than a nice photo which I happen to get from the guys at SF magazine anyway.
I don't really see any benefit to me in all of this, whereas with SF mag the features are in depth and all my contact details are included, so I get knock on work from the articles. I can only see a benefit for you in all this, and not to put too fine a point on it, I don't know you from Adam, so why shouold I help you?

It's Ross (Sonic) with the yellow Gixer that used to be, the one you used to fancy.Funky wrote:most people introduce themselves in the introductions section first before advertising their business...

Hi Jim, great to see you are ok and still riding, can’t say that I have any time to get out anymore because too busy but it does mean that I can cherry pick jobs that I want to do such as this when I have got an interest in the bikes and cars. You still a CBR man then. I don’t think Aaron recognised me…jim1979 wrote:It's Ross (Sonic) with the yellow Gixer that used to be, the one you used to fancy.Funky wrote:most people introduce themselves in the introductions section first before advertising their business...
I am surprised at the responses here though, they have been very positive on other forums, in under 24 hrs I am spoilt for choice in terms of the bikes that have been offered up for shoots.
Just to clarify a couple of things which might help, the signing of a release refers to a Property Release, it has nothing to do with the copyright of the image which automatically belongs to the photographer irrelevant which if you have ever modelled or had an object of value photographed before you might well have come across, you often need to sign one to appear on TV etc. – I imagine the rider who has already been in Street Fighters has had to do this as 99% of the time there is no financial incentive for the owner at all, its simply the fact that there bike has been chosen and legally the magazines like to protect themselves from any further claims for compensation as they have already paid for the images in their mind by hiring a photographer to go out and get them.
I have no interest in trying to steal credit for your work and the release bears no relevance to this, as for crediting you as the builder of the bike and/or your company, I leave that completely to the magazines to set up interviews, get all the technical details, what credits or information about yourself they want to use etc. as they wish - ultimately that’s their job and I am paid to take the photos, not write down the details.
As for not knowing me, generally the first time you get offered the chance to be photographed for magazines it’s very unlikely you will know the photographer, but it easier if you are chosen again but may be next time it will be a different photographer – who knows? You have been lucky enough to get a break like this and I am sure that I will have seen your bikes at shows etc – I don’t how you were first offered the chance to get a bike in Street Fighter but this is one of the routes open to people with a passion for bikes who want to get recognition for their work.
In terms of being accused of making lots of money for taking a photo of your bike, being paid for taking photos is my job and there is no way you can make lots of money from taking photos of bikes – like I said I only accepted this job as it’s a subject matter I have an interest in.
I hope that clears up a few queries anyway and I don’t need to take up anymore of your time.
